Ranch style home

  • Ranch style homes are one-story houses with an open and casual layout.
  • The ranch homes are built on a concrete slab, though some have a basement or crawl space.

  • Ranch style homes are popular due to having the house on one level.
  • This type of home usually takes up more land due to only having one level.

Colonial style home example

  • Colonial style homes or some may say a two-story house is also a very common term.
  • These kind of homes may go by various names but are mainly a house that has two levels above ground.

Colonial (two story) floor plan example

  • In this type of home the bedrooms are found on the upper level, while the functional rooms are designed for the main level of the home.

Split level home

  • A split-level home is a style of house in which the floor levels are staggered. There are typically two short sets of stairs, one running upward to a bedroom level, and one going downward toward a basement area.

  • From the interior you can see how the stairs are split with landings to separate the floor levels.
