General stuff:

• Please keep announcements unmuted on the GC!
• First cohort has started shooting. Tuesday's shooters will be replaced as they are signed off. We assign spots so don’t just turn up.
• Mondays for air rifle will switch between people so there’s more of a chance to shoot.

General stuff:

• Membership is £25 on engage – we will require memberships for events/shooting from now on (remember to get it)
• Morley Range requires £10 x 3 sessions – a probationary membership that lasts 6 months. Full year’s membership is £60.

Shooting times:

• Mondays (~6:30pm – 8:30pm) = air rifle beginners and signed off
• Tuesdays (~6:30pm – 8:30pm) = .22 TR beginners only
• Wednesday (~6:30pm – 8:30pm) = air rifle signed off only (but this is often incredibly busy, so Monday is advised)
• Thursdays (~6:30pm – 8:30pm) = .22 TR signed off only
• Saturdays (~9am – 11am) = .22 signed off only
• Sundays (~9am – 11am) = .22 signed off only

Behaviour at the Range

• As a member of the club, you are representing us. Acting disrespectfully or recklessly is not tolerated by the range, and you may be asked not to come back.
• There is an anonymous form on our linktree in case you witness unacceptable behaviour of any kind.
• It’s not a uni range! There are lots of members of the public who are there too.
• Please come to shoots consistently if you’ve been selected – there are some exceptions but if you are unable to do this your spot will be given to someone else.

Disclaimers

• Due to it being a shared range – we can’t guarantee everyone will shoot up to Christmas.
• GIAG in the works for semester 2 to shoot if you haven’t already at that point.
• Shooting related events are also a good opportunity! Clay, paintball, laser tag…
• Cheaper social membership out soon: no range but access to all the events

BUCS

• Competitive membership and extra fee required if you want to shoot competitions
• We are taking note of how well everyone is doing – places depend on shooting scores.

• Please do not take photos until you are told you are able to
• Nothing stupid please ☺ it’s the easiest way to get banned and you will be reported to the university and potentially the police
• We are happy to say Morley & District Rifle Club on posts but please do not give exact location, we do not advertise our location for obvious (hopefully) reasons

Please always sign in:

• Always make sure the firearm is unloaded when handling and has a safety flag in the breech

It’s rude to point – �

• ALWAYS keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction. The firearm is pointed so that even if the firearm were to go off, it would not cause injury or damage.
• ALWAYS keep the firearm unloaded until ready to use.
• ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. The finger should rest alongside the firearm, i.e., on the frame, receiver, or trigger guard.
• If it ‘aint pointing at anybody, it ‘aint going to kill anybody!

Only move Firearms when told safe to do so i.e. on/off firing point

• Never touch your firearm when someone is down range, not even to put it on the firing point.
• Firing Point: Shooters may occupy their firing points at the fire line when authorized to do so i.e. nobody down range. Points are numbered or clearly marked corresponding to their target number.
• Backstop: Located downrange behind the target line. Firearms should point down range at the backstop at all times.
• All firing should be directed forward from the shooters’ firing points so projections impact with designated impact areas.

Cease Firing:

• Immediately stop shooting when anyone calls "Cease firing.“
• When a detail is complete check the other shooters next to you firearms to ensure they are unloaded and have a safety flag inserted.
• DO NOT go forward of the firing point under any circumstances when shooting is in progress.
• If an item has fallen beyond your reach, contact duty committee member/range officer for assistance or wait until shooting has finished and range declared safe.

Respect the Range:

• Please place your rubbish into the bins
• Pick up your spent brass and put into the appropriate receptacles

Ear protection is required on the range at all times.

Its not working!

• DO NOT BRING ANY LOADED OR JAMMED FIREARMS INTO THE Club room leave them on the firing point pointing downrange.
• If you need assistance with your firearm, shout/contact committee member on duty/range officer for assistance.

Ammunition

• Various grades of ammunition can be purchased from the club
• Ammunition can only be removed from the club if you hold a FAC with appropriate authority
• Removal of ammunition from the club without a FAC is a criminal offence, any unused ammunition that you have purchased will be stored in the club armoury
• Write your name on any ammo purchased
• Do not remove brass from the range – this is a component part of ammunition

Armoury

• Only committee members are allowed entry
• Ask a committee member if there is something you need stored in the armoury

• On applying for membership West Yorkshire Police are informed, this is a Home Office requirement.

What days can I shoot?

• Until you are ‘signed off’ – you can only attend on:

• Tuesdays for Prone/Bench/3p
• Monday or Wednesday (a day will be allocated) for Air
• A form is provided that lists what you need to achieve before you are signed off

• Gather your kit together, each piece of equipment is numbered or colour coded, and you will be given a card to document which kit you have used

• Get a card write your name on it and put in one of the numbered slots when you are ready to shoot
