SUBJECT: How do you endure the disrespectful students?Hello Sam,I enjoy watching your class on YouTube.

I can't believe you put up with students sleeping and playing with their phones during class. My professors would have thrown them out of class.Bob (from Texas)

I'm compelled to write to you in appreciation of your work as a professor in what has to be the most challenging, highly charged, and volatile subject matter. It feels like people like me (moderate conservative, male, heterosexual, Christian, gun owner, and middle-class) get blamed or assumed to be very bad people or in a "basket of deplorables.” But where others fumble and hesitate, you wade right in and have the conversation. We need more people like you in education and in the world. - Mike, Computer Analyst

I wanted to write and thank you for your work. I have been watching your classes on YouTube with fascination and appreciation for addressing complex and nuanced conversations to help students say the things that cannot be said. I am certain we differ in political opinions, but I have tremendous respect for your thoughtfulness and how you conduct classes.  James, Marine Corps Veteran

I am a conservative Christian man from Alabama,

and I have been watching your videos. I want you to know that you give me hope for our future. I think you and I probably disagree as often as we agree on many issues, but I still respect what you are doing. Thank you for putting your classes online. - John

@fervanimalLover:I have much more hope for GenZ the more I return to visit PSU (I'm 35) and also listen to this class. The environment was much more different in the Obama era when it came to speech (not in a good way) among millenials. Being anywhere right of center was toxic during that time. I appreciate Sam's work and I love some of the student perspectives.
