  • Your Joint Replacement Guidebook
  • Loose comfortable clothes (allowing for surgeon to see your dressing)
  • Glasses, hearing aids, & dentures
  • Sleep apnea machines & power cord
  • Electronic devices & power cords
  • Walker

Do not bring jewelry, cash or home medications.

REGISTRATION

  1. Check in at the main registration desk in the front lobby

  • Go to Day Surgery with your face sheet and arm band!

DAY SURGERY

    • Change into a hospital gown
    • Nurse Interview
    • IV placed
    • Surgical site prepared
    • Surgeon Consent
    • Program Coordinators check-in
    • Ask any last-minute questions
    • Anesthesia provider discusses the plan & gets your consent

OPERATING ROOM

  • Everyone will be wearing masks, gloves, & surgical scrubs to protect you from infection
  • You will slide from your pre-op bed onto the operating table

TRACKING THE PROGRESS

  • Care partners can track your progress on the monitor in the waiting room

  • A number will be given to track your progress on the screen while protecting your privacy

Recovery (PACU)

After surgery:

    • Supplemental oxygen
    • IV fluids
    • Vital Signs are taken
    • Post-op Nausea/Vomiting
    • SCDs are placed
    • Cold gel packs applied
    • Sips of water & crackers or apple sauce
    • Start oral pain medication
