Benefits of the Extended Day

Provides the recommended instructional time for effective implementation of new curricula.

Allows time for more frequent WIN (“What I Need”) blocks, which provide targeted intervention, enrichment, and supplemental support.

Increases teacher collaboration and professional learning opportunities

Aligns to other districts in the Commonwealth in terms of the length of the school day

Allows schools to incorporate a developmentally- appropriate balance of core instruction, special subjects and unstructured time (e.g. lunch/recess) across the school day and week.

Attendance Reminders

We want our students to get the most out of the school day!

  • Regular and consistent attendance is essential to learning, to maintaining a respectful school climate and to your student’s successful school performance.
  • Arriving on time also affects students’ academic, social, and emotional development.

  • The expectation is that all CPS students will have at least ninety percent (90%) on-time attendance in school and in each class during each school day.
  • If you think you will need support in getting your child to school on time, please contact your school’s Family Liaison!
