Requirements:

  • Complete an advanced class (Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or Concurrent Enrollment (CE)) in each core area:
    • English
    • Math
    • Science
  • Complete all other graduation requirements
  • Maintain a 3.3 cumulative GPA
  • Complete the FAFSA application (12th grade).

Academic Rigor challenges students to think, perform, and grow in ways that prepare them for college and careers

Honors = Typically requires more homework, more reading, and moves at a faster pace

IB is Skyline’s most rigorous academic path…

  • Offers a challenging, interdisciplinary, international college preparatory program.
  • Includes a Creativity/Activity/Service component (CAS).
  • Teaches students to be well-rounded, reflective, critical thinkers and writers.

WHEN DOES THE IB PROGRAMME BEGIN?

Ninth/Tenth grade = Skyline Pre-IB

  • Rigorous courses now help prepare for IB courses taken in Grades 11 & 12
  • Continue advancing in chosen World Language or begin Chinese 1
  • Attend monthly lunch meetings (social-emotional and academic support)

  • Attend a Zoom Information Meeting Jan. 26, 6:30 pm
  • Find the Zoom Link by going to the Skyline Counseling Center website or IB website
  • Fill out an application, which can be found on the Skyline High School website under the IB tab

GRANITE TECHNICAL INSTITUTE (GTI)

  • The GTI provides hands-on experiences and practical skills in a variety of subjects and career pathways.
  • The GTI is an extension of the Skyline campus.
  • Buses are provided to transport students to and from the GTI.
  • Every GTI class is a two-period block.
  • GTI courses often have grade or age requirements.
  • All GTI classes require a signed and completed application form. You will not be enrolled in a GTI class until the form is returned to the Career Center.

  • Click on the Course Selection link.
  • Here you will find all of the information and materials needed to complete your course selection request:

    • Granite Technical Institute (GTI) Application form
    • Sports and Performance Group Tryout Sheet
  • Please follow all instructions.

  • Complete the Course Selection Request Form Survey.
    • Follow your worksheet.
    • Be sure to request a full schedule of 8.0 credits.
    • By completing this form, you are submitting your request and confirming that you intend to take the classes you have requested next year.

AUDITION/TRYOUT CLASSES

  • Some Skyline Classes require an audition or tryout.�
  • If you plan to audition for a class, select it on your request form. Counselors will put in a placeholder until teachers give counselors their audition list.
    • Example: Students who want to audition for Highlites will be placed in S/A Choir�
