Grading

• Teachers will reassess for summative assessments/tests (local school/teacher developed) below 70.

​

• Re-teaching and reassessment should happen within two weeks.

​

• Only one reassessment opportunity should be provided per test.

​

• Students will receive the true retake score earned, unless it is lower than the original score.

Promotion Requirements

To earn promotion to the 4th grade, students should have a reading status of Grade Level or Above on the English Language Arts Georgia Milestones End of Grade (EOG) Assessment. Students who do not meet this criteria may have the opportunity to attend summer school for targeted instruction. These students may be required to retest after summer school. Students should also possess the academic knowledge and skills necessary to be successful at the next grade level.

For the 2025-26 school year, the English Language Arts Georgia Milestones EOG Assessment will not be used to determine promotion as the state completes standards setting for the English assessment due to the introduction of new English standards. A student’s yearlong average in English will be used to determine if students have met the English promotion criteria for 4th grade.

Students who do not have a reading status of Grade Level or Above on the English Language Arts Georgia Milestones EOG but who have a yearlong average that is passing (70 or higher) in Reading may be promoted.

Expectations

• Cameras must remain turned on so that we can see both the top of your head and your chin
• When in breakout rooms, ensure you’re actively working on assignments
• Be on time for class every morning at 8:00 am
• Attend all live sessions on time and remain until the teacher dismisses you, including mini lessons and small groups 8-12
• Students should be seated at a desk or table with work space and all materials available nearby. (Learning from bed is not permitted.)
• TVs, Radios, cell phones etc should be turned off and not visible during learning hours
• Let’s remember to always be patient and respectful to others

General Reminders

• Students should be on time for every class starting in the mornings at 8:00 am
• Set an alarm to go off 3-4 minutes before each session to help with logging in on time
• Cameras must remain turned on so that we can see both the top of your head and your chin
• Students need to be in a quiet space that can monitored by a responsible adult
• Send an email or text message when your child is absent or running late
• Please review all assignments each day and ensure that they are completed.
• Email the teacher with any concerns or questions
• Create a desk or table work space and have all materials available nearby. (Learning from bed is not permitted.)

General Reminders

• When in breakout rooms, go ahead and share your screen before you get started.
• At the end of the day, go back and make sure all of your assignments are complete
• Don't hesitate to ask for help if you are having trouble. (Your teacher may choose to help you in a breakout room.)

Cell Phone Policy

​

• HB 1009: Cell Phones grades 9-12 - Beginning no later than July 1, 2027, no public-school
• student in grades 9-12 shall be permitted to access personal electronic devices during the
• school day, except as otherwise provided or required by law. The same definitions and
• requirements as currently applicable in grades K-8.
• All students should ensure they do not have a cell phone or other device visible during
• synchronous instruction. This does not include headphones/ear pods for use in the
• online learning environment.
