Requirements

• Membership Application
• Forms will be available at the end of the meeting
• Forms will also be available on our socials

• Annual $35 fee
• If you require financial assistance feel free to reach out to us!

Participation

• At the end of meetings, you will complete a participation form, which is how we will be collecting attendance for all events.
• If you want to compete, we require 80% attendance to all events
• If you do not want to compete we require 70% attendance

GBM Dates

• Held every other week on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm (meeting date may change if there is a holiday or wellness day)

Leadership Conferences

Attend workshops to learn and practice medical skills, gain leadership skills, and interpersonal skills

Opportunities to attend guest speaker events by healthcare professionals and meet other students who also have an interest in healthcare

Compete in testing, skills, and presentation events on healthcare topics of your interest (Medical reading, public service announcement, pharmacy science, etc)

Leadership Conferences Pt. 2

State Leadership Conference (SLC):

• 2027 SLC is at the Sheraton Greensboro at Four Seasons/Koury Convention Center from March 17-19
• Compete with other schools in your state
• Listen to keynote speakers and attend healthcare and leadership workshops

International Leadership Conference (ILC):

• 2027 ILC is in Philadelphia from June 22-25
• Need to place at SLC to qualify for ILC
• Compete with students from all around the world

State Leadership Conference

Even if you aren’t interested in competing at the State Leadership Conference, there are numerous other ways to be involved!

• Volunteering: Volunteers are needed for the duration of the conference for things such as timers for events, helpers for competitors, and more!
• **this is a unique opportunity offered to UNC HOSA members**
• Expo: there are presentation opportunities available for the Expo at SLC!

Run to be a state officer for NC HOSA.

Run for a leadership position in UNC-HOSA (more info to come)

You can also run for a leadership position at the state level and International level. UNC is a very prominent school at HOSA’s collegiate level!

Anna Feng (top) is a UNC Alum and was the international president from 2023-2024!

Kartik Tyagi (bottom) is a UNC alum and was the international president from 2022-2023!

National Service Project:

• NMDP: National Bone Marrow Donor Program (formerly known as Be the Match)
• Focused on Blood Cancers and Disorders
• Matches potential stem cell donors with patients

Mentoring Program

Big-Little Program

• Program we launched last year, where upperclassmen get matched with underclassmen to serve as mentors and help with the pre-health/college experience.

Medical Student Mentoring

• We’re currently have a collaboration with medical students to set up a mentoring program with our members.

• These dues cover costs associated with guest speakers, professional prep books for UNC HOSA members (MCAT/DCAT books), cost of conference fees, social events, and much more!
