Birthday

Celebrations

Celebrating birthdays with everyone on their special day is important to our school. We do so by honoring students and staff at Weekly Welcome and Worship.

During that time, we invite those with birthdays and half birthdays to stand while we sing a birthday blessing song. In addition, everyone receives a birthday card entitling them to a non–dress code day on the day they celebrate with us.

In first grade at St. Michael Catholic School everyone will also celebrate their birthday within our classroom. If your child has a summer birthday, they will celebrate on their half birthday or a date close to it. Your child’s birthday or ½ birthday date celebration will be posted on the peek of the week and your child will receive a non-dress code pass sent home in advance in their take home folder to be out of uniform on the day that we celebrate their birthday in the classroom. When we celebrate a birthday in our classroom your child will receive special treatment such as, picking the morning greeting and activity, being sung to, and bringing in a favorite picture book to read together or they can choose a book from the classroom library. You may also bring a small treat to share with the class. If you choose to bring in a small treat, we ask for non-food items (see ideas below) due to our gluten and peanut allergies.

Birthday Treat Ideas might include:

Bubbles

Pencils

Rings

Necklaces

Glasses

Coloring Books

Mini Notebooks

Stickers

Gift a book to the classroom

Gift a toy to the classroom

We look forward to celebrating birthdays in our class!
