Crisis One

“Healing Starts With A Conversation”

What is Crisis One?

    • Crisis One is a Mental Health & Well-Being service offered within Ysgol Dyffryn Aman.

    • The Crisis One programme is youth & peer-led, it is designed by students; for students.

    • Sometimes it’s easier to talk to someone who “gets it” because they’re living through similar things. The team of students involved in Crisis One are trained to listen, support, and guide you in a friendly and non‑judgmental way.

    • Crisis One is run in partnership with the Jac Lewis Foundation, a charity that specialises in mental‑health support, wellbeing, and suicide prevention. This means that even though the service is youth‑led, it’s backed by trained professionals who make sure everything is safe, supportive, and helpful.

How it works

HIG Chats

Our ‘How is it going?’ chat will be carried out each morning across all registration classes. The Crisis One Team have each been assigned specific registration classes to carry out these chats. They are brief conversations where you can have that person-to-person contact, with someone who gets it, and have the opportunity to reach out for that little bit of extra support you may need.

Crisis One Box

By filling out the referral card in reception and then placing it into the Crisis One Box, we can deliver what the service offers to you on a more 1:1 basis. The Team member that you have a pre-existing bond with from the HIG chats will then come and have a chat with you and find out how we can support you & your needs.
