How does Toronto’s climate change affect food productivity/availability?

By: Jessica, Taylor, Kayla and Salwa

Weather Effects on food

Negative Effects

  • Severe weather conditions can cancel shipments that are coming from around the world
  • Because of the unstable weather, it puts more demand on farmers to grow their crops in a fast time
  • Costs of food can increase and reduce accessibility for customers

Positive Effects

  • When summers are longer, it gives more time for crops to grow and more sunlight
  • After a long hot summer, a lot of rain and wet weather can help moisten the soil and grow more crops
