Now let’s add some decimals!

Add using place value knowledge

  1. 1.452 + 1.3 = (1.452 + 1.300) so… 0.400 + 0.300 = 0.700, 0.700 + 0.052 = 0.752, 1+1 =2 so… 2.752
  2. Now have a go 3.25 + 0.075
  3. 2.43 + 1.093
  4. 18.25 + 0.099
  5. 5.06 + 8.35
  6. 9.44 + 1.702

Now that you’ve achieved this, you can now use algorithm by lining up the decimal points!

What’s the difference? (subtractions problems)

Don’t subtract - Add!

Example: What’s the difference between 23.17 and 18.65 (23.17 - 18.65)

18.65 + 0.35 = 19

19 + 4.17 = 23.17

4.17 + 0.35 = 4.52

The difference is 4.52
