Habitat and Threats

The slender-tailed meerkat lives in Africa and bush and grass lands. These meerkats live in large groups to protect each other and make a warning if the see danger. Some animal predator for this animal are hawks, eagles, and many wild cats.

The slender-tailed meerkat is critically endangered because of all of the predators, their lifespan and because a lot of these animals live together they can warn each other of predators but if no one sees the predator it is bad for the meerkats population.

Meerkat Adaptations

A few adaptations that the slender-tailed meerkats have are that they are very good diggers and for one group of meerkats they can have tunnels with usually 70 entrances/exits this is good for hiding from predators and for stalking prey. Meerkats also have a white film on their eyelids that helps them when they get sand in their eyes.

To conclude slender-tailed meerkats are wonderful creatures and are very interesting, sadly slender-tailed meerkats are critically endangered and need help. You can’t adopt a meerkat and take it home but you can adopt one online. So go do it you may be saving a life.
