HOST 1 So, Let's start this webinar with introducing the leaders for the 2026 Seneca Waterways Contingent to the National Jamboree. I'll start by introducing myself. Again, my name is Aaron Strausser. I've been asked to be the Scoutmaster for the Contingent and the Boys Troop. We're assembling with Scouts and adults from all over our council. I'm an Eagle Scout and I'm the Scoutmaster of Troop 166 in Macedon. I have had the fortune of previously attending the 1989, 1993 and 2023 National Jamborees and I am looking forward to the 2026 National Jamboree.�

Jeff is the Committee Chairman of Troop 166 & 6166 and Scoutmaster Emeritus Troop 166 of Macedon, NY. He has previously attended the 2019 World Jamboree. �

Megan currently serves as a Committee Member of Troop 111 of Brockport, NY. She is Wood Badge Trained and an OA Brotherhood member.�

Shane Hamilton

Shane currently serves as an Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 521 of Honeoye, NY. He is Wood Badge Trained.

So you have to attend as an adult, so we have to be mindful of those youth protection rules. ��The other way to attend is as an adult participant — either as part of a troop or contingent, or by joining the Jamboree Service Team, which means you’ll be serving on staff during the event and this helps to allow National to offer all of their Jamboree programming.

HOST 2 Each troop within our contingent will include around 36 Scouts, divided into male, female, and crew patrols, and will be supported by a minimum of four adult leaders. Throughout the event, Scouts will follow the buddy system to ensure they are always with a peer, reinforcing both safety and camaraderie during their Jamboree adventure.�

HOST 1 You might be wondering how we’ll form our contingent for the National Jamboree, and we’re here to provide some details on the process. Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing more information, but here’s a basic outline of what to expect.

Additionally, we’ll have a shakedown campout around June of next year where we’ll practice setting up tents, working in patrols, and refining our teamwork before heading to the Jamboree. So, this isn’t just a simple sign-up and see you next July. We’ll be actively building and preparing our contingent together, step by step, leading up to the big event!�

HOST 2, That's an excellent point, especially for any Scout who might be considering going without knowing many others, or perhaps a Scout from your troop who’s thinking about signing up. The great news is that by the time we board the bus on July 22nd, there will be plenty of opportunities for your Scout to get to know their patrol and the rest of the troop. Our goal is to help everyone start building friendships and connections with their patrolmates and fellow contingent members long before the trip even begins, so they’ll feel right at home when the Jamboree starts.

HOST 2 At the National Jamboree, the camp will be thoughtfully organized into multiple sub-camps to accommodate the approximately 20,000 Scouts attending, ensuring comfort, privacy, and structure for all participants. Each unit, including our contingent, will be assigned to its own sub-camp, which serves as a home base where Scouts will begin and end their day. Our contingent will be grouped together in a dedicated section, with uniform tents arranged in neat rows and conveniently located near latrines, toilets, showers, and a dining fly for meal preparation. To respect privacy, male and female patrols will have separate living areas.

To make things easier, much of the essential gear — including cooking equipment and cots — will be provided on-site. We’ll also provide a list of additional items your Scout will need to bring to help support their experience, but rest assured that most of what they’ll need for setup will be ready and waiting when they arrive.

HOST 2 Let’s take a moment to discuss the cost and the valuable opportunities to help make this experience more manageable. The total cost per person for the National Jamboree is $2,600, based on careful planning and budgeting by our team. To make it easier, we’ve set up a payment schedule, so the full amount isn’t due all at once. As a note there is a balloon payment due by the end of November of this year. You are welcome to make payments in advance of that date if you would like to break up the payments. If you have any questions about the payment details, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us — we’d be happy to walk you through the process.

We understand that cost can be a concern, which is why we are offering fundraising opportunities for Scouts to help reduce the overall cost of the trip. These fundraising activities give Scouts a chance to take an active role in funding their Jamboree experience. Additionally, there are camperships available through both the Seneca Waterways Council and the National Jamboree, which can provide financial assistance. More information on both fundraising and camperships can be found on the Seneca Waterways Council Jamboree website. This is an incredible opportunity for your Scout to not only experience the adventure of a lifetime but also to develop important life skills along the way.
