iPad “Warmup” Challenge

1. Take a picture of yourself (”selfie”) with the Camera App. Find the picture.

2. Take a screenshot. Find the picture.

3. Shoot a 30-second video of a colleague(s) talking about how they’re using iPads in the classroom -- or might like to.

4. Go to: http://padlet.com/tom22/ett-fetc2015. Add your name, position, and your picture to the wall.

5. View Control Center on iPad (hidden at bottom of screen). Check that Wireless and Bluetooth are turned on.

6. Go to http://vimeo.com/edtechteacher in Safari and Add to Home Screen. Add http://edtechteacher.org/apps to Home Screen. Add http://tinyurl.com/ett-usd259 to Home Screen. Put three in “ETT” folder on home screen.

7. Go to http://edtechteacher.org/app-smashing-from-greg/ and copy second sentence in paragraph. Open Notes app and paste sentence into Note.

Bonus: Select sentence you pasted into Note and "Speak" it. (Hint: "Accessibility")

PDF can be opened but NOT annotated in the iBooks app. PDF can be opened and annotated in PDF annotation apps.

The user's finger / stylus can write in free-hand on the PDF.

Word / Pages

Word or Pages documents can be opened in the Pages app and annotated with inserted, typed text. The new Word is subscription only.

2- Explain Everything

1. Create 3-6 page draft screencast with minimum:

  • 1 recorded video; 1 captured picture; 1 Web picture; 1 narration; 1 song; 1 typed word(s); 1 hand-drawing; 1 narration- animation; 1 locked element; 1 moving pointer; 1 Web page. Save as Project. (40 minutes)

2. App Smash the following:

  • Skitch -- annotate a map (text, arrows, etc.)
  • Gami -- include Library image as Background
  • Paper 53 - create sketch, background, or character
  • PicCollage - create image collage with text
  • Book Creator - export page and insert into EE
  • Book Creator - export book as video and insert into EE

3. Enhance your screencast (20 minutes):

  • record inserted video with mic muted
  • re-record voice while animation locked
  • delete part of audio clip
  • layer 3 images- back, middle, front
