Based on TAM theory, although both students and faculty reported high levels of agreement regarding the perceived benefits, challenges, and readiness to use generative AI, their actual usage patterns differed substantially. Students reported markedly higher frequency of use, whereas faculty were more likely to report never using GenAI. This discrepancy likely reflects role-based differences in task demands and perceived risk. For students, GenAI functions primarily as a personal productivity tool with immediate benefits for academic tasks, whereas faculty must consider broader instructional, ethical, and institutional implications when integrating GenAI into teaching. Additionally, faculty may face greater barriers related to time investment, course redesign, and concerns about academic integrity, which may limit frequent use despite positive attitudes. These findings suggest that adoption of GenAI is influenced less by perceived value and more by contextual and structural factors shaping opportunities for use.
