Entering Grades 4-5 Directions: Over the summer, do as many of these activities as you’d like to do. Initial and add the date on the line of the activities as you complete them.

Plant a seed. Measure it each week and record its growth. Make a graph.

Use dry cereal to model one multiplication and one division equation.

Take a walk on the beach and collect seashells. Measure them and create a line plot of their lengths.

Learn how to count to 20 in two languages you don’t already know.

 

Find out the birth years of the people who live with you. Put them in order from least to greatest. What is the greatest difference?  

Make a poster of your favorite number and include at least 3 facts about it.

 

Record your daily schedule. Write the time each activity starts and ends. Record how much time each activity takes.

Make your own math game and play it with a family member.

 

Draw a design where ¼ of the design is blue.

Teach someone something that you learned in math class this year.

 

Create a song to teach someone about quadrilaterals.

 

Bake with an adult. Help the adult with the measuring.

Complete 3 of these chores (folding laundry, make a bed, wash dishes, vacuum/sweep) Time how long each chore takes. Which chores take the longest/shortest and why? Which was your favorite/least favorite and why?
