My Maps

Google’s My Maps tool allows you to build custom drives, trips and routes on its Maps product. It is now integrated directly into Google Drive, which means you can build custom maps just as easily as you can new documents, slideshows and spreadsheets.

Google Tour Builder

Google Tour Builder allows you to create custom tours using Google Earth. It lets you pick the locations right on the map, add in photos, text, and video, and then share your creation.

Originally created as a tool for war veterans, it is a great resource for students.��Neat example:�Highfill BBQ Road Trip

Google Lit Trips

Google Lit Trips are free downloadable files that mark the journeys of characters from famous literature on the surface of Google Earth.

At each location along the journey there are placemarks with pop-up windows containing a variety of resources including relevant media, thought provoking discussion starters, and links to supplementary information.

Google Cardboard

Google Cardboard brings immersive experiences to everyone in a simple and affordable way. Whether you fold your own or buy a “Works with Google Cardboard” certified viewer, you're just one step away from experiencing virtual reality on your smartphone.

For starters, you can view YouTube #360Video videos as well as use the Cardboard and Google Street View apps.

Google Expeditions

Google Expeditions is a new implementation of Google Cardboard which allows teachers to take their entire class on immersive virtual reality field trips using multiple cardboard headsets and smartphones.

Google Expeditions AR

Google Expeditions now has an AR (Augmented Reality component) which allows students to use their devices to explore concepts in three dimensions. Just download the latest version of the Expeditions app to get access to AR content.

Google Tour Creator

Google Tour Creator allows you to easily build immersive 360 degree tours right from your computer. Make a VR tour using imagery from Google Street View or their own 360 photos. Once you’ve created your tour, you can publish it to Poly, Google’s library of 3D content. From Poly, it’s easy to view. All you need to do is open the link in your browser or view in Google Cardboard.

Cardboard Camera

The Google Cardboard Camera app lets you snap your own virtual reality photos for viewing in Google Cardboard. Anyone who's taken a panoramic shot using their smartphone already knows how to use this app: You hold your phone in a vertical position, tap the camera button, and move in a circle.

The app is available through both iTunes and Google Play.

Fun with Geography!

GeoGuesser is a web-based geographic discovery game which utilizes random Google Street View locations and requires players to guess the location in the world using only the clues visible in Street View.

GeoSettr allows you to create your own GeoGuesser challenges and provides you with a custom URL to access them.

Smarty Pins!

To encourage more people to interact with Google Maps, Google created Smarty Pins, a fun and interactive game that tests players' trivia and geography knowledge.

Choose a category, start a game, and keep playing until you run out of miles!

Street View Treks

Google Street View Treks let you travel to and explore some of the most famous sites from around the globe without leaving your classroom.

There’s even a form available for you to become a “Trekker” and borrow equipment from Google to capture images.

Earth Engine

Google Earth Engine combines a rich catalog of satellite imagery and geospatial datasets with planetary-scale analysis capabilities that is available for scientists, researchers, and developers to detect changes, map trends, and quantify differences on the Earth's surface.

�The timelapse feature is an incredible resource for educators to show change over time.

Street View Timeline

Google Maps features an incredible Street View Timeline which takes the timelapse feature of Google Earth Engine to the next level.�Simply find a location in Google Maps using Street View (on a blue line and not a blue dot) and turn back the clock!

Land Lines

Google Land Lines is an experiment that lets you explore Google Earth satellite imagery through gesture. “Draw” to find satellite images that match your every line; “Drag” to create an infinite line of connected rivers, highways and coastlines.

Google Maps (Space)

Google Maps now allows you to see more than just Earth. See planets and moons from all over the solar system! To access this new imagery, just zoom out from your Google Maps view until you hit outer space or you could just click here.

Once you’re done exploring all of these planets, you can also make a quick stop at the International Space Station.

Access Mars

Access Mars is a WebVR experiment lets you visit Mars using your desktop computer, mobile device or virtual/augmented-reality headset. Users also can visit four sites that have been critical to NASA's Mars Science Laboratory mission: Curiosity's landing site; Murray Buttes; Marias Pass and Pahrump Hills.

Google Trips

Google Trips is an app that makes exploring the world easier by organizing your essential info in one place and making it available even offline. Google Trips simply gathers your travel information from Gmail and Inbox, then organizes it automatically. Get activity suggestions based on what’s nearby and make customizeable day plans

GoogleTreks

GoogleTreks allow teachers and students to use Google Maps to synthesize information in one easy-to-use map that places text, pictures, audio files, video files, and much more in one central location.

There are units available for primary through higher ed in a variety of subjects. The site also includes rubrics and how-tos for creating your own.

One Today

One Today helps introduce users to interesting nonprofits. Every day it will share a new one with you and if you like what you see, you can use the app to donate a dollar.

There’s a social component that will let you see where your friends are giving, and match their donations if you so choose.

Google Translate

Google Translate can be used to translate text, handwriting, photos and speech in over a hundred languages.

The Translate app, you can use your phone's camera to translate text in the world around you, like signs or handwritten notes.

The app is available through iTunes and Google Play.

The Constitute Project

Constitute was the result of a Google Ideas project to see how technology can continue to support and improve constitution design.

Users can browse constitutions by country and year and cross-compare whole or parts of documents, search for words and phrases, as well as drill down into specific themes by topic.
