Scene Negotiation

  • Always have a safe word.
  • Talk about hard limits and soft limits:
    • Hard limits are absolute “NO-GOs”
    • Soft limits are negotiable based on the dominant and scene.
  • Don’t ever assume that sex or sexual touching is automatically consensual!
    • Always ask before the scene.
    • Do not negotiate this or anything else in scene!
  • Negotiate an agreeable aftercare procedure.
    • Don’t abandon people when they’re in a vulnerable state.

Troubleshooting: Things to Look For...

  • Their shoulders don’t relax after impact
    • It may be too intense for their body. If this goes on for a minute or more check to see if they’re ok.
  • Their whole body is shaking and won’t stop shaking
    • This can be a sign of shock if it is not orgasm related. Check on them if the scene is only impact or rope.
  • They feel numbness in hands or feet
    • This can be a sign of constricted nerves. Check on all restraints!
  • Dizziness can be a sign of dehydration or other conditions.
  • Ideally medical history especially for diabetes, high/ low blood pressure, heart conditions and vertigo.
