How to Navigate My Digital Poster
Why a digital poster?
Dynamic evidence
We can: replay movies, slow down events, compare before and after perturbations
Spatial detail
We can: Zoom into images, fields of view, annotations, or subtle morphology
Scientific depth
If you only have one minute
Some results in biology are inherently dynamic.
High-resolution imaging data (e.g., microscopy) lose meaning when compressed
Nonlinear discussion
We can: move directly to the result, method, control, movie, or backup analysis
Scientific conversations are nonlinear.
Interactivity & links
We can: provide a copy to interact in real time and afterwards in addition to other linked content
There is not enough time to explore content and talk
Cost
We can: reuse this explanatory poster and create digital posters for free
Posters are usually one-offs and then tossed and can be expensive
We can: have unlimited content if the question arises that we can navigate to
Sometimes we want to go deep in one area but are limited to space

My scientific poster for this conference is a digital interactive iPad poster.
What you are reading is not my poster. This poster is to help you learn why and how to engage with my interactive iPad poster.
Please just engage with me if you want to directly learn about the science and see the “actual” poster.
You do not need to read this poster unless you are interested.

Posters are meant to spark a customized conversation
Start engaging the same way you would interact with a normal poster ask questions, point to what interests you, and tell me what you want to see next.
However, there are several things that could not be done otherwise as shown in the figure on the right.
We hope that the conversation is only the beginning of our interaction.
With the digital world we can continue in many ways to engage even beyond this short poster session.
As such we have prepared several items to continue to engage to learn about:

We have written about our experience using digital posters and some tips that we have learned about how to put together a successful digital poster experience.

We have a number of QR codes printed out associated with our specific presentation, e.g.,:
That way we do not have change or reprint this poster each time!
