If your Chromebook doesn’t turn back on and you get a black screen but you see your power light on, even briefly, then your Chromebook didn’t fully awake from its hibernation state.

Don’t Panic there is a super easy way to fix it with 2 simple keystrokes.

2 Key Solution

Press and Release both the refresh key and power button at the same time.

This will take a few seconds but the chromebook will restart and power cycle back on. Essentially you just forced your Chromebook out of hibernation.

Plug in the Charger then follow the 2 Key Solution

What happened?

Your Chromebook, like any computer, is designed to save as much power as possible when not in use. Your Chromebook tries to save power hibernating when not in use.

If you shut your Chromebook’s lid without powering it off first, your Chromebook will go into hibernation mode.

The next time you open the lid on your chromebook it will wake back up and ask you to log in.

Sometimes it just doesn’t want to wake up and you need to force it out of hibernation.
