The Iberian lynx is the most threatened feline species in the world and the most endangered carnivore in the Europe.
If the Iberian lynx disappears, it will be the first feline of the history to became extinct.

Diet
The Iberian lynx is a carnivore, so it eats meat.
In the Iberian peninsula it finds a prey that is easy to hunt, energetic and that exists in big numbers, the rabbit. They make 90 per cent of Iberian lynx diet .
They eat small rodents too, reptiles and partridges .

Why are they in danger
The principal causes are: illegal hunting, habitat’s destruction, traffic accidents, the vanishing or death of rabbits and poisoned baits.

Area distribution
The Iberian lynx only lives in the Iberian Peninsula. The 2019 census estimated 750 lynxes occurring in the Iberian peninsula of which more than 100 in Portugal.
