Membership in the Neapolitan Chapter of the National Honor Society has been earned by these candidates through the effective demonstration of the four qualities that serve as standards for the Society.

SCHOLARSHIP

LEADERSHIP

SERVICE

CHARACTER

Traditional Candle Lighting Ceremony

A candle lighting ceremony is used during the National Honor Induction Ceremony to represent the core four pillars that are sparked and driven by the central candle which represents the lamp of knowledge.

Our current officers will share these qualities:

  • Scholarship: Kallyn Stekl
  • Service: Katelyn Lincoln
  • Leadership: Gianna Vest
  • Character: Shaylyn McGory

6 of 62

Scholarship

Everyday Scholarship is a commitment to learning and growing on an educational path. It means making the most of the educational opportunities provided and seeking out learning, not only in school, but also personally. Everyday Scholarship requires effort and stems from a desire to contribute to this world in a positive way by building on one’s own knowledge, skills, and talent through different experiences.

7 of 62

Service

Everyday Service is seeking out and engaging in meaningful service, not simply doing acts of service to fulfill a program requirement, or to collect hours. Sometimes it’s driven by a passion for a specific cause or people in need. Other times, it’s driven by personal or family need and, although hours are important, Everyday Service is seeing a need and fulfilling it voluntarily

8 of 62

Leadership

Everyday Leadership builds on Everyday Service. Service and leadership oftentimes look very similar. Everyday Leadership is carrying oneself with dignity and taking ownership and responsibility for one’s own actions and participation. Being a public speaker, playing quarterback, or having an official title is not required for Everyday Leadership. Everyday Leadership means being an agent—someone who takes action and responsibility—of your own pathway

9 of 62

Character

Everyday Character is valuing diverse cultures and building relationships that reflect love of self but also concern for others. There are endless attributes to good character: perseverance, respect, integrity, honesty, sacrifice—the list goes on.Good and noble character is a high calling. Though oftentimes we don’t “see” character, Everyday Character is not about the recognition but about the personal commitment to ethical and compassionate decision making that affects oneself and others.

Emma,

Congratulations on becoming a member of the National Honor Society! We struggle to find the right words to say – proud just does not seem strong enough. We are proud… but, there is more to it than that. There are so many paths out there that can be taken as a teenager, with so many temptations. You have always chosen the one that will take you in a positive direction. You know what you need to do to accomplish what you want to accomplish and you just do it. You have an amazing work ethic, a determination to do what needs to be done to meet the goals you set, a selflessness that many people your age have not found yet, a kind heart, and the ability to forgive so easily.

14 of 62

The qualities you have make you the unique young lady that you are and the honor of being inducted into the National Honor Society is proof of that. This is just one more step on your path of whatever dreams you place in front of you. Continue to be the person you are today and you can make those dreams come true! We love you, we admire you, and yes, we are so proud of you!!

Congratulations!!

Love,

Mother, Father, and Jacob
