#4a Build a Prototype

Gather your materials: As a group, brainstorm as many tech tools as you can and write each tech tool on its own index card. You will only be able to use index cards that have a tech tool on it to build your tower.

#4b Build a Prototype

Using your tech tool index cards and tape, create your Tech Tool Tower prototype. You will have 10 minutes to create a freestanding tower. If you need more tech tool index cards, you can create them as you go.

#5 Test It

Let go of your tower, is it freestanding? Does it represent your design?

#6 Evaluate Your Solution

Will your prototype meet Tech Town’s needs? Do you need to make any adjustments? How could you improve your design?

15 of 30

Using the Engineer Design Process is a great way to engage your students in a low tech way.

How could you use this tower building activity in your classroom?
