How to Play Conjugation Relay

• Every row is a team!
• The first person of the row is the team leader! (Switch places if needed)
• Every person in each team must have a different colored writing utensil. There can’t be two pencils, two black pens, etc.
• I would avoid highlighters/big markers as those are difficult to read.
• If I can’t read the answers – no points!

How to Play Conjugation Relay

• I will call out a verb.
• Every person in the row will write the correct conjugation of that verb in the PRESENT TENSE.

• Notice how all forms are in different colors! Accent marks count!

How to Play Conjugation Relay

• Otherwise, if there is more than one color, I know that one person wrote more than one form [cheating]!
• You can help your team, but you must remain seated the entire round!
• If anyone in your team stands up during a round, your team is disqualified for that round.

How to Play Conjugation Relay

• Each round, the paper will be passed [not thrown] to the front of the row and the team leader will hold it up for me to check the answers.
• I will check to see if it is correct. Spelling and accent marks count!
• If all answers are correct, that team will earn a point.
• If not, I will hand the paper back to them.

• I can NOT tell you what is wrong with your team’s answers.
• Use your team to help you (remain seated!)
• My helper (chosen randomly) will help me see which team was next in line for me to check and will help me keep score.
• For the 1^st round, we will start with the

“yo” form at desk 1.

How to Play Conjugation Relay

• For the 2^nd round, we will start with the “tú” form at desk 2.
• For the 3^rd round, we will start with the “él, ella, usted” form at desk 3. etc.
• This way, everyone is getting practice with ALL forms of the verb, not just the yo form, etc.

How to Play Conjugation Relay

• Remember to focus on YOUR TEAM. If anyone from your team deters anyone on another team (grabs their arm, paper, etc), your team will be disqualified for that round!
• Finally, remember to keep the answer sheet paper on YOUR DESK when it’s your turn to write an answer.
