Agribusiness Examples 2025

2 of 329

Lesson Starters for AgribusinessCreated by Leeann Morgan, Hamilton Boys High School. These slides cover over 100 Agribusinesses, each Agribusiness has a few slides outlining what the business is, and a video clip or two about the business. The intent of the power point is to open each lesson throughout the year by showcasing a new Agribusiness. The order the businesses is not necessarily important nor does it need to be specific to the topic you are covering, instead it can be used to introduce the variety of Agribusiness and to start discussions around product, brand recognition, innovation, and marketing. The PPT also provides the opportunity to highlight the breadth of career opportunities throughout the sector and the scope for diversification and opportunities across the sectors. This in itself can help to dispel the myths and poor perception of the industry and working within it.If it is possible, bring the product in for students to sample – nothing like tasting or experiencing the product to bring tangible learning experiences into the classroom.

Kaitaia Fire

Kaitaia Fire Ltd. was established in 1989 on an organic 5-acre farm at Lake Ohia in New Zealand’s Winterless Far North. From those humble beginnings, they now export sauce all around the world, and produce a range of organic “hot” products for the domestic market. Their sauces have won many food awards in both New Zealand, and the United States. Chili peppers, Capsicum frutescens is the main ingredient. When these chilies are at the height of their maturity and the red colour is at its most intense, they are plucked off the knee-high bushes and brought in for sorting and washing. After being finely milled and mixed with organic sea salt, the chilies are sealed in barrels with air locks to undergo a quasi-fermentation process over the next few years. This process effectively removes all the sugars in the fruit, and releases the volatile oils locked up in the pepper’s cell walls. When the resulting mash has reached its optimum level of maturity, it is transported to the city of Auckland, mixed to an ancient Mayan recipe, and bottled. This is pure Kaitaia Fire.
