English Language Arts

Unit 2: Wild and Endangered Animals

Week 2: Research Question #1

What does it look like? How do it’s physical characteristics help it survive?

Reading

Identify main topic and key details.

Conduct short, sustained research projects based on focused questions.

Phonological/Phonemic Awareness

Syllables, Onset and Rime, Phoneme Manipulation

Phonics/Word Study

Read, spell, and analyze one-syllable words. (-ock, -uck, -ash, & -est)

Writing

We will collect research data, organize it, and use it to write the first chapter of our informational book.

Math

We will begin learning about measurement, beginning with length.

Science/S.S

We will learn about plant traits and offspring.

Handwriting

We will work on correct letter and number formation.

  • Nov. 13-17 - Book Fair Week!

Family Night (16th - 3:30-6pm)

  • Nov. 15 - No School! Safety Day!

  • Nov. 22-24 - Thanksgiving Break!

  • Please make sure your child has a water bottle at school. I still have many without.

  • Remove papers from Take Home Folders every night and make sure they return each day. Also, make sure you return the home reading pocket each day so we can log your child’s steps and exchange books.

  • It has been very chilly! Please make sure your child is dressed warm and has warm outdoor apparel.

  • We have a Reflex math challenge going on the whole month of November! Please allow your child to get on Reflex for a little bit at home if they want to to help us solve more problems!
