Course Description

This is the third level of French study and is designed to expand upon the knowledge of French 2 with expansions into new topics. Students will develop the ability to communicate in the four modes of communication at intermediate level on the ACTFL proficiency scale. There will be greater opportunities and further expansion into reading, writing, listening, and presenting in French, and through these modes of communication gain increased understanding of the culture and practices of France and other French-speaking countries.

Responsibilities & Expectations

1. Participation. You know you have mastered French once you can speak it and understand others speaking. This is the goal of French class! Please have fun and participate!

2. Respect. Don’t talk over people or disrupt the person to whom you should be paying attention. Respect other people’s personal space and belongings.

3. Honesty and Integrity. Complete your work on time and make sure it is YOUR work! Cheating/plagiarism of any sort is absolutely not tolerated in this class. This includes copying and pasting from online resources.

4. Technology. Devices such as phones, personal devices, headphones, etc. must remain out of sight and are not permitted without the expressed consent of the instructor. No exceptions.

5. Cleanliness. Keep our room neat and tidy! Please refrain from consuming food or drink in the classroom, throw things in the trash.

6. Effort. Be ready to make mistakes and be supportive of those trying their best!

Consequences: Failure to comply with any of the above rules and expectations outlined in the student handbook as well as in Mrs. Tervo’s syllabus and room may result in disciplinary action. r a disciplinary referral.

Mastery /Late Work Policy

  • Quizzes may be retaken one time during WIN or office hours
  • Tests may be retaken one time during WIN or office hours for up to an 80%
  • Late Work Policy: In order to prepare students for college and the workforce, students are required to turn in all work on time. Five points will be deducted each day that a project/written assignment is late until it is worth nothing. A zero will be given for all work not turned in.
