“Prepping”

As we all begin preparing mentally for what lies ahead, we want to share with you a selection of materials to watch and read which might gently guide you into some of the ways of thinking and understanding that we will be engaged with at the Gathering. The list should take around 50 min to get through.

6 of 33

The Basics

  • Be your own host! Make your place cozy with coffee/tea/water and prepare with chargers, muting your phone, and maybe pen & paper?
  • If you can, join from a computer (rather than a phone or tablet)
  • Join from a quiet place
  • Join with a good internet connection. Minimum “internet speed” needs to be 1.5 Mbps download/upload. You can measure it using www.speedtest.net
  • Be on time, or rather a few minutes before (plan for technical issues…)
  • Keep your video on (and mute sound when you’re not speaking)
  • Commit to staying. If you are here, be here. And avoid multitasking :)

I want to invite youBy Sanna Rådelius

I want to invite you.

Invite you to a space of being.

Being human.

Being human together.

Being you.

I am experiencing a crack.

In the story of society.

In the story of life.

In the story of myself.

I am experiencing a crack.

In being me.

In living my life.

In knowing what is real.

I am experiencing a crack.

In reality.

In truth.

In space and time.

I want to invite you.

Invite you to feel.

Invite you to explore.

What is happening within you?

What are you experiencing?

How does it feel?

I want us to pause for a bit.

Paus together.

Paus together with our collective experience.

Feel it.

Look at it.

Love it.

Yes, it might be painful.

Yes, it might be filled with anxiety.

Yes, it might be awkward.

And still, we need to do it.

We need to step into the crack.

Go a bit deeper.

And a bit deeper.

Because then.

When we have embraced all emotions.

When we have given them the space they demand.

When we have shed light on all the darkness.

And given it the love it deserves.

Then my dear ones.

Then a new life will emerge.

A life that is free from the chains of fear.

A life that is free from our old habits.

A life that is not business as usual.

And yes, we will dare.

We will courageously meet the darkness.

Hand in hand.

Because we don’t just see the darkness in the crack.

We also see the light that permeates.

We want it to shine even stronger.

And so it will.

The light will shine.

It will shine upon the soil and the seeds of creation.

And they will sprout.

They will grow.

They will gift us with the flowers we’ve been longing for.

The flowers of life.

What flower do you want to sow?

What flower do you want to be?

I want to invite you.

To be.

The World We Create: Exploring what’s happening now

The Slides from the talk and Q&A with Tomas Björkman Video:

We can no longer save the world by playing by the rules.

Because the rules have to be changed.

We need a system change, rather than individual change.

But you can not have one without the other.

And so I ask you to please wake up and make the changes required possible.

To do your best, is not longer good enough.

We must all do the seemingly impossible.

Everything needs to change!

And it has to start today!

- Greta Thunberg

Fascinating to explore how we will be able to let go of our time-addiction (faster and faster) to be able to relate to one another in an empathic and heart-connected way. Time seems to be the one thing that influence and block our empathich behaviour. Values seem to be much more shaky in stressed situations (scientific experiment/study "The good samaritan)

From Maria Lannér to Everyone: (07:27 PM)

The way I see it, having worked with/in cooperation with African companies, governments, organisations for the past 25 years, is that the change that is happening now, is transcending all over the world, also in African and ”Muslim” countries - so using the value map, based on today, cannot be used.

From Malin - she/her to Everyone: (07:32 PM)

What type of civil disobedience is most efficient do u think?

From Sarah Rosendahl to Everyone: (07:32 PM)

@maria lanner, it is interesting how e.g. african countries are bypassing steps in the technological evolution. Mobile phones and crypto currencies instead of computers and banks e.g. But the map can still be valid, only they might go directly into the new part?

From Thomas de Ming to Everyone: (07:32 PM)

How do you think China, India, Russia and USA will develop In this ”between worlds”?

From Belinda Retourné to Everyone: (07:32 PM)

Horizon model very helpful - it's not always one or the other (wihtin or outside the system) Are there any more 2nd horizon actions in your view (besides UBI)?

From Alistair Langer to Everyone: (07:32 PM)

? Is it really that we don’t have a clue what might emerge, or do we have some guesses?<<<<<<<<<

From Stig Zandrén to Everyone: (07:34 PM)

What could the ‘French Revolution’ be in this ongoing paradigm shift?

From 2. Ulrika Tillberg Luckey to Everyone: (07:35 PM)

Fear and hatred vs love and compassion?!

From 3 Mattias Seger to Everyone: (07:35 PM)

So what would be a revolution beoynd dualism be
so metacompassion includes compassion and hostility

From Erik Ottosson to Everyone: (07:36 PM)

Lets contribute to peace and prosperity, for humanity and nature. Order emerging at the edge of chaos.

From Amit Paul to Everyone: (07:36 PM)

I see that there is a knowledge gap in the current movement. I.e. how can “we” the ones that have practiced bring those who have not along? Is there a way to “download” these things into the public consciousness?

From 3 Mattias Seger to Everyone: (07:37 PM)

Corona is just a symptom

From 3 Mattias Seger to Everyone: (07:37 PM)

Fighting Corona might not be the solution
what is then beoynd extinguishing the virus

From Kay Bradshaw to Everyone: (07:38 PM)

Second Horizon actions: yes.. neighbourhood caring, global communication!

From maria-paz acchiardo to Everyone: (07:38 PM)

Q for Tomas: How do you see our time-addiction (faster and faster) in connection to our capability to relate? (The good samaritan experiment, that showed our values are very shaky when we become time-stressed). Have you any personal or evident based tips that work?

From Pär Svensson to Everyone: (07:38 PM)

Buckminster Fuller said: - Dont fight the existing modell - Build a new one that make the existing one obsolete:)

From 3 Mattias Seger to Everyone: (07:38 PM)

The idea of a visrus killing its host is not the meaning of a virus - then it will extingush itself - it might then be a question of balande and maturity
So can then the solution be just that - balance in a higher order

From Mikael Larsson to Everyone: (07:39 PM)

We always need to come from dualism in our point of views. In contemplation we eventually become one and transform. Then it’s start all over again I’ve notist in practicing sitting:)

From Josefin to Everyone: (07:40 PM)

What could be the future role of ”folkbildung” be to promote a future world?

From Kay Bradshaw to Everyone: (07:42 PM)

Maybe invite neighbours into our living rooms next time we have a gathering like this. Including people outside our own age range, like older and younger people too.

From Stig Zandrén to Everyone: (07:42 PM)

How could we collaborate with parallel movements in the world, like the Ulab and the Mind and Life Institute?

From Mikael Larsson to Everyone: (07:42 PM)

@great idea Kay

From Belinda Retourné to Everyone: (07:43 PM)

@amit - I think it's up to us! Don't we all need to think of personal ways of knowledge bridging and disseminating? Talking to family & friends about it; producing content (writing, speaking, social media); networking/events - depending on our personal skills and preferences

From 3 Mattias Seger to Everyone: (07:43 PM)

There is already a civil war in the US! :-O

From Belinda Retourné to Everyone: (07:43 PM)

To build critical mass organically - together

From Mette Bostrom to Everyone: (07:44 PM)

How can I make an impact in small things, in my daily life? Do I give myself time to stop, listen and wait for my soul and do I share all of me with other people, in the store, at the bus, in the most triggered situations?

From Thunderbear (Torbjörn Wrange) to Everyone: (07:46 PM)

Good questions! Keep on look through our blindfolds. - What blindfolds us right now, a virus and a molecule in the atmosphere? Whats Emerging NOW in SHORT term as well as in LONG term. Food production for next autumn for instance. Killgissning

From Stefan Felter to Everyone: (07:46 PM)

@Josefin - I think that Folkuniversitet (in Sthlm) has made a big move recently - to a new portfolio of education and seminars - with a perspective ”a better world”

Workshop buffet

We had the delight to present the following workshop buffet that you were able to take part in on the Friday. The purpose of the workshops were to enhance our capacities as change agents, to see and embrace “the crack” - within ourselves, our organisations and/or the society. We took notes from the workshops together in this document:

How to become a rangemaker to dissolve wicked problems

We will creatively deal with high uncertainty and experience of chaos to develop our ability to lead groups and processes through truly wicked problems. The objective is to become more comfortable with being uncomfortable when expanding the range for both the thinking horizon and the capacity for change.

Body talk

For much of the time, in our modern lives, we forget we have a body. We treat it as a transportation device for moving our heads around from place to place. But when we remember that we do have a body, we think we have to do things to it.

In a Body Talk session, you are invited to let go of who you believe yourself to be, and move closer to who you really are. It’s a session for people of any age, physical condition, or experience to come and PLAY.

Leading ourselves and our deep sensitivity

Human beings aren’t always comfortable navigating change and uncertainty. That’s perfectly normal and okay but we do need to develop the practices to lead ourselves through disruption and care for our deep sensitivity so that when we do act, we do so from an empowered and mature place. In this workshop, Helena will inspire and lead you through a few practices to take care of yourself in the most responsible way possible, to tend to the parts of you that craves safety and comfort.

Sound improvisation for emotional release

In order to find the cracks where the light shines through we need to return home. Home to our bodies and our emotions, and all the myriad of experiences, memories, triggers and reactions that make up the fabric of our inner world. It is from this place, in touch with the truest source of the way we show up to the world, that we heal: find the cracks, be with them, and let the light shine through. Welcome to a workshop about accessing emotions and releasing them on the vehicle of the voice.

Scared people do not think outside the box:

about the art of becoming a crocodile tamer

During this workshop, we will reflect on how fears affect us and what we can do about it. With his experience from the Swedish counter terrorist unit, Torbjörn guides us in the ability to get to know our inner crocodile and increase our understanding of how it protects us.

What is in the way is the way - an experiential workshop and a meditation about pain and fear

In this workshop we are going to make a little exploration of our relationship to fear, pain and suffering (which is ultimately linked to our relationship to death). We are also going to experiment with physical sensation as a metaphor for emotional pain.

In order to participate you need a safe space where you can be alone with yourself during the whole experience without being interrupted by someone.

You also need a set of 7 clothes pegs (klädnypor)!

How to inspire co-creation and foster community in times of transformation?

World of wisdom is one of the initiatives that are trying to transform the world by engaging people in participatory culture. We invite you to join a workshop to identify the variables to turn personal engagement into a collective movement. Two of the world of wisdom founders will share what they have found so far. The challenge is to co-create a recipe that can be used for any initiative trying to transform society. We are looking forward to learn, co-create and connect with all of you.

Here follows a few slides about the Open Space. First a collection of all the questions we collected together, which we clustered into 12 different themes.

22 of 33

How might we dance all night long?

How can we act and non-act from our crazy wisdom in these times? - and what can that be like as how it actualizes itself in you and us?

How can we step up? Really stepping up. Now.

How can we help each other see and unleash the potential of our current times?

How do I get "I disease awareness" in times like these ...

Main question: Howe can we stay cantered in walking the talk and sharing what we are talking about by living it?

How might we continue to work for a sustainable future even though all of us does not agree on that all are one or that diversity is an asset?

We are experiencing a radical new normal? What are the signs?

How can we realise the potential of the time we are in? How can we tell an empowering story of entering into the second horizon in between systems that gives us courage and transforms our fear?

Hur kommer vi förbi behovet av "pengar"? alla system idag bygger på att vi konsumerar och använder pengar. Vad/Hur kan vi göra för att komma förbi det?

How can we think ROI/Return on investment in new ways when describing new global impact ideas with traditional business plans?

Expand our consciousness. Get in contact with our whole being. To move alined in full potential. Get out of the minds time-scarcity thinking "faster and faster" & "more and more"

How to move in silent focused aware action

live in compassion with all sentient being and planet earth

Allow Love to flow right through us without getting on the way

connect with our innate Wisdom and Light

See ourselves reflected in the eyes of "others"

Let go of the addiction to unhealthy growth

let go of unhealthy growth

What if we don't need to be afraid of our feelings and emotions?

How to power up/scale up communities to go outside of already broken structures

"How does our personal transformation connect to the external change we want to see?

How do we sustain this energy and experience to make change transformative?

How do we ensure sustainable livelihoods?"

A harvest of all the questions that was sent in by all participants:

An invitation to sit down and see what happens

How can we mitigate potential positivity bias and avoid "circle jerk" dynamics?

"How to spark change?

If this is the time, what can I do and what can we do together

Can we inspire each other as we might have different networks."

Where are we going?

How might we open up the areanas that are not commonly used for showing vulnerbilaty to be spaces for just that?

"Qurious about: Vad är vi rädda för, egentligen?

What are we really afraid of?"

The new world- what do we need to reconstruct, to keep and to improve? On an individual as well as societal level

How can we mutually support each others projects?

How can we use what we learn in this gathering to bring out into the world?

How can we break the distance? Between countries. Between individuals. Between groups/communities.

How to make space for seniors (65+, 55+, 45+?) – their experiences, perspectives and capabilities – in the work place and in society?

How can we visualise and connect all initiatives and co-creators of a sustainable future, as to inspire more people to join?

How can I contribute best in these times

There are simultaneous efforts in the world to connect people and initiatives. How can these connecting efforts compliment each other and create exponential results?

How can we communicate to people to understand that we need to slow down in order to shape a new future together?

How might we create a school that prepares our children to live a sustainable life?

How might we increase the awareness of our belonging to the planetary ecosystem? To become one living planet!

How might we have some impact in the way technology could be used to control us in the name of health and safety?

How does my inner transformation relate to the wider transformation and how can I contribute to the bigger change right now?

How can we change the education system to "build" healthy individuals and society?

How can we spread the feeling of compassion and a common future to the rest of the world? How can we take action now?

How can we break isolation (whilst accepting the physical distance)?

How can we share this gathering experiences for others who aren't here?

How might we share our gifts from a place of being?

how to actually SEE every network I have access to, and invest in the ones where I can do most impact in order to co-create a near future, with very practical steps

How do we determine what we can do on a concrete level to co-create and respond to change right now?

How do we take the feeling of compassion and collaboration that we feel here at Emerge Gathering and spread it out to the rest of the world

Leadership and group building. How does the new leaders emerge? How can we trust in ourselves to lead or to follow others wisely?

23 of 33

What possibilities are emerging?

25 of 33

  • Amazing! Inspiring how to have such a live gathering online. The variation, facilitation, sense of urgency, authenticity and tech wiz is key. PROUD!!!
  • It was great to meet and share with so many inspiring people. But I felt is was fragmented. I believe we need more of a flowing conversation, where we reflect together rather than taking turns talking and listening. Less facilitation.
  • Thank you so much for hosting this event! Sanna and Naima, you were fantastic - adding so much playfulness and authenticity to the event. I'm so grateful for the experience, and filled with hope and warm energy. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart
  • Spectalularly well carried through! Great inspiration on so many levels - from format/design, to Q asked, to people, internal and external cracks being opened...Great initiative! Very well hosted - personal, structured, alive, catching the moment. Thanks alot!
  • Beautiful energi from Naima and Sanna. Wanted some more lectures. I think that the discussion did`nt move forward all the time. Very tirering with a full day on in front of the computer. Really liked the lecture from Thomas Björkman
  • I feel refreshed and renewed. I now feel a sense of community and positivity. At the same time, I can't stop having a nagging feeling that we might be just throwing positive fluff at each other, not really getting to the real deep discussions. Thank you for this! It was a very interesting experience and I'm thankful for having been a part of it. Looking forward to future experiments!
  • very well organised workshop. Why was the workshop planned a Friday? Personally prefer week-end days.Great to be able to be in a great seminar - 100% online. Great facilitation, tech support and workshopleaders. All went smooth and many contributed!
  • This was simply fantastic. This gave energy that will last for weeks. It is truly the light in the crack that is appearing in our worlds.

Please share your feedback, learning and reflections about the event

  • "WOW!! applause to you all! Thank you!!
  • The only tip i have is maybe some more moments of silence or time to reflect after question before you go in another room."
  • Thank you so much for this wonderful event. I've been truly uplifted and energized to keep working for good change. Great to see that events like this works well online. Also i'm grateful, cause I have a cold, and still could participate.
  • Excellently hosted! The very best thing was the time spent in the break out rooms. The time spent here could have been longer, though.Best Zoom meting so far I been in.
  • What emerge - opportunities!Amazing!!! You all, Sanna, Naima, Johan, Pontus, Magnus all of you. WOW!! So thankful for having been part of this unforgettable event! "AMAZING!! Sanna, Naima, Johan, Pontus & Magnus! WOW WOW WOW!
  • I am so grateful for being part of this unforgettable event!"
  • Its possible!
  • Wonderful that you managed to host Everything online! Great job. The first day (Thu evening) was a bit slow but I guess necessary to get everyone comfortable with the. The workshops, beehives were brilliant. The stand up and dance breaks were super!
  • Very greateful for this! Youv'e been brilliant! <3
  • Thank you so much!"I'm grateful I happened to find my way to this meeting, which I did through the Rebell Wisdom and the Emerge podcasts. Great job.
  • It was a valuable experience. Thank you, all of you."
  • <3<3"A new dimension and insight in the way groups work! Great performance and facilitation! Just a start of something important.Great facilitation from the hole team. Great diversity between the different activities. Thx with love Mikael L
  • Vore fint att få ett schema med alla tider. Och rejäla pauser för fika och lunch. So inspiring meeting and I especially appreciate Sannas and Naimas uplifting appearance as hosts. I have a deeper understanding of what's going on which gives Oscar's words in the end certain weight: be quiet, open and listen. We know nothing yet...
