Using Career Tools in Instruction

  • Career Comparison Activity – Students investigate and compare two or more careers (salary, job outlook, education, requirements, etc.)
  • Career Scavenger Hunt -
    • Give students a set of prompts (e.g., “Find a career that requires a master’s degree,” “Find a job with a median salary above $60,000,” “Find a growing career in your region”).
    • Students use the Career Library and Career Data filters to search by cluster, pathway, or high-value careers and report back with their findings.

Using Career Tools in Instruction

  • Career Pathway Debate or Persuasive Writing
    • Assign students different career pathways and have them research careers within them using the Career Library & Career Data.
    • They must argue why their career path is a strong option based on job outlook, salary, and required skills.
    • Can be done as a class debate, Socratic seminar, or persuasive essay.
