The purpose of this meeting is to review our Early College High School and P-TECH programs for growth, sustainability, and student success with all stakeholders for the

2025 - 2026 school year.

The district goal is continuous advancement of Elgin ISD’s ECHS and P-TECH programs, ensuring that our students are not only college and career ready but are also leading the way in workforce and higher education pathways.

The Goal.

Early College High School

Early College High Schools (ECHS) are open-enrollment programs that allow students least likely to attend college or who wish to accelerate completion of high school to combine high school courses and college-level courses while participating in rigorous and accelerated instruction. (CCRSM, 2025)

Pathways in Technology Early College High School

Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools (P-TECH) are open-enrollment programs that allow students least likely to attend college or who wish to accelerate completion of high school, to combine high school courses and college-level courses while participating in rigorous and accelerated instruction. Congratulations to our Class of 2025 P-tech Welders who earned full-time employment after their senior internship with Athena Manufacturing!

Thanks to our partnership and mentorship with Austin Community College, these students developed top-notch skills and signed their official letter of employment. They started their first day in the workforce in the Summer of 2025! Proud of these boys!

This opportunity is what sets this program apart!

  • The Blueprint identifies five benchmarks (six for P-TECH), which serve as the foundational elements of the model and describes 7+ essential design elements for each benchmark.
  • The Blueprint outlines the required design element artifacts to be published publicly and made available to TEA upon request.

Elgin ECHS was placed on Needs Improvement Designation on July 2025.

TEA approved the appeal on PEIMS Error on September 25, 2025.

We are now a 2025-2026 Designated Early College High School.

Missed Distinction level by 1 indicator, Emergent Bilingual Student by 5.7%.

Juniors will visit Athena Manufacturing once a month for a total of 7 visits.

Freshmen and sophomores will be provided the opportunity to participate in one to two site visits per semester at Athena, where they will explore advanced warehouse technologies and machinery beyond conventional welding equipment.

Enhancing PCC 1 Curriculum

We now have enough students who are college-ready to open up a 3rd section of EDUC 1300 and we are only in October. We have 31 additional students who’ve passed half of the TSI. Them passing would us push into 4 sections of EDUC 1300, totaling around 80 students from Cohort 2029 on an Associate's Degree track. This would be a first for the ECHS & P-TECH programs since their creation!
