What is the CAP program?
The New Jersey Youth Corps Career Advanced Placement Program (NJYC-CAP) was created to assist corpsmembers who are 18 and older and a high school graduate find careers and/or attend college or trade school. NJYC-CAP provides different options for corpsmembers to achieve their dream career such as taking on an paid Internship, using our Occupational Skills Training (OST) program to gain an license or certification in demanding fields, and being put in a career that they love or continuing their education at a New Jersey college or trade school. The NJYC-CAP is a 100% free program for serious corpsmembers.

Internship to Advance Placement (AD)
Corpsmember who is seeking a career in marketing lands an internship for a employer handling their social media and website then gets hired full-time by employer as Marketing Coordinator.

Corpsmember enrolls into OST program such as a certification for C++ and Coding, earns the certification and then attends College or Trade School
Occupational Skills Training (OST) to Advanced Placement

Corpsmember interns for plumbing company while taking relatable OST courses and after 30 hours or completion of OST is hired by plumbing company

Rules & Expectations
Achieving alongside Case Managers
Each corpsmember will be assigned a Case Manager (CM), who will create a Career Plan that corpsmembers MUST follow. Within the career plan, corpsmembers will have bi-weekly check-ins and updates with their CM. Corpsmembers will be responsible for submitting timesheets and updating OST tracker (if applicable). NJYC-CAP offers many supportive services (Transportation via bus tickets, trains passes or gift cards, books, exam fees, uniforms, and behind the wheel instruction if required by employer) which will be issued by Case Managers based on need.
| Advanced Placement | Career based jobs, College/University, and/or Trade School. Does not include retail or fast food UNLESS it’s aimed career. |
| Internship | On job training with NJ employers, $15 per hour (bi-weekly) |
| Occupational Skills Training | Certificate or License course that is related to seeking career, must complete minimum 30 hrs before being put into Advanced Placement |
