Children learn languages quickly and easily while adults are ineffective. ¿Verdadero o falso?
The human brain can learn and grow at any age. Children may achieve better pronunciation but adults are usually more efficient learners. We can do it! �
Only people with an “ear” for languages (aptitude) can learn a second language. ¿Verdadero o falso?
Success in language learning is influenced by many factors including language aptitude, motivation, learning opportunities, willingness to communicate, strategies, use, etc. Stay curious! �
Speaking with other learners is not helpful. It’s best to practice with native speakers. ¿Verdadero o falso?
Talking with other learners provides more speaking opportunities and helps learners practice negotiation of meaning and noticing. We are a team! �
It’s possible to easily chat with native speakers after learning about 1,000 words. ¿Verdadero o falso?
Yes, but an understanding of pragmatics (i.e. how to show respect, apologize, make requests, etc.) is also required. Cultural differences can lead to major communication breakdowns and misunderstandings. We need form, meaning, and use (context) for vocabulary learning. And tolerance of ambiguity! �
