About me!

●This is my year 13 at Da Vinci, I have been with the district for 17 years. I am a native Spanish speaker, originally from Los Angeles. I Moved to Davis when I went to UC Davis to do my undergrad in Sociology and Spanish Literature. I enjoy gardening and walks with Jasper.

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)

Professionalism (15%)

Professionalism points will be assigned to essays, HW assignments, and other big projects. Students will receive a workbook that will contain all of their HW pages for the year.

Curricular Literacy (20%):

Many times, the oral and or written exercises will be graded as quizzes/test. There will also be practice exercises for the AP Exam that I will grade as quizzes. And at least 2 complete AP Exam during the year as a form of practice for the AP Exam in May 2025.

Learning Mindset (25%):All language skills will be practiced, but focus will be on reading, vocabulary strategies, literary analysis and writing critically about literature or printed materials. Students learn vocabulary and other linguistic features through reading and class discussions. �

Oral communication (20%):

Students will have informal and/or formal oral presentations every other week. These presentations include, but are not limited to, interviews, debates, speeches, storytelling, simulated phone conversations, etc., using the appropriate register.

Written Communication (20%):

Students will write one 150–200-word essay per unit, informal writing prompts. Topics will be connected to the reading assignments and listening materials, students are asked to underline the main points/ideas then paraphrase in their own words to practice synthesizing.

LATE WORK

Assignments missed because of EXCUSED absences are to be made up with one week of the student’s return to class. Any test, assignment and more NOT made up on time will be recorded as a 40% grade. ZEROS may now be given on designated culminating assignments that are not submitted or completed.

● 1^st Violation: Reminder/warning to put away phone

● 2^nd Violation: phone placed in the teachers desk until the end of class.

● 3^rd Violation: phone given to the office until the end of the day.
