1. What considerations, or professional perspectives, are there around the future of learning and the need for/amount of physical space given how things like Covid and remote learning have reshaped potential long-term implications for education? We believe there will be a vaccine, so we don’t envision the need to increase the size of our facilities due to social distancing with COVID. The future of remote learning is uncertain, but we know that students need in-person learning opportunities, so facilities are still a necessary part of education.
2. Is the district aware of, and aligned with, long-range economic development plans across cities and ETJs, and will any projected increase in tax base from businesses help offset or subsidize any of the bond amounts being proposed? Or has this already been factored in models? We are in frequent contact with state, city, and county officials to understand where infrastructure is planned. Increase in taxable value helps ISDs with debt payment and future capacity. Remember with taxable revenue increases, state revenue decreases.
3. Just something to think about when we decide how big to make our new Elementary schools: The bigger the school the less often they will be able to have electives like Art, Music, PE, and Spanish. Will be covered more in meeting #4
