What to be Aware of with CCP

  • The grades (both the good and the bad) a student earns are recorded on both the high school and college transcripts permanently.
  • Course credit may not transfer to private or out-of-state colleges.
  • Students must check with colleges to confirm transferability.
  • Utilize the Transferology website: Transferology

What to be Aware of with CCP

Underperforming Students

Students on Probation:

  • May only enroll in 1 CCP course for one semester.

What to be Aware of with CCP

Underperforming Students

Financial Risks:

  • CCP legislation states that school districts can require families to re-pay the cost of tuition, books, and fees for students who fail or withdraw after the deadline.
  • If a student fails or withdraws often, future financial aid may be impacted negatively.

How is College Different From High School?

  • College coursework is more rigorous than high school
  • The pace is much faster and college faculty expect more work to be done outside of the classroom.
  • Fewer number of assessments
  • Parents serve as mentors and support for the student; the college views the students as an independent decision maker.

ORC 3365.02, ORC 3365.03

Additional Considerations

  • The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects student educational records.
  • Male students who are at least 18 years of age and Ohio residents are required to be registered with the Selective Services.

Male students are required to provide their Selective Service number to the college within 30 days of their 18th birthday. Failure to submit the number will result in the student not being considered a CCP participant for that semester. (The student will then be responsible for any tuition, textbooks, or fees associated.)

CCP and Athletics

Important to know:

  • All students must be enrolled in and earn passing grades in a minimum of 5-one credit courses (or the equivalent) each and every grading period to have continuing eligibility.
  • Expectations for SHS extracurricular activities do not change when you take CCP courses. Please take into consideration of your commitments prior to scheduling your CCP courses. Your coaches/advisors expect you to be on time for all practices/competitions.
  • Students should report any changes to their CCP schedule within 24 hours of the change. Failure to report any changes may result in a student being deemed ineligible to participate in high school athletics.
