Developing my Thinking Skills
Introduction Lesson
Lesson Objectives
We look different. And we enjoy doing different things.
Everyone is different...
We think, learn and feel things differently to each other….and that is OK.
Our brains work differently too
...how we do it, and what we think and feel may be different.
Even when we do the same activity
Our senses collect lots of information...
...but our brains only process some of it.
Which bits are selected varies from person to person.
There are 1000 times more neurons in one human brain, than there are stars in our galaxy
The processing is done by neurons
...and they are constantly changing as we learn and experience new things.
There are over 3 trillion connections in our brain....
All the neurons together create enough electricity to power a lightbulb.
Our brain does many things without us thinking about them:
Other skills we have to learn, but they soon become automatic:
Our brains help us processes our emotions and stores our memories
Our brain also helps us think and solve problems.

Ability to divide attention or be flexible in your thinking.
Attention
Working memory is the space in your head where you hold and organise information for a short amount of time. For example when you teacher tells you instructions and you have to hold them in your head until you get back to your seat.
It also helps you remember the task you have just completed.Or to reverse a multiplication sum, to divide it.
Memory
Ability to think ahead and consider what you need or what should be done.
Thinking about the steps that will be needed to complete the task
Planning
