Course selection is an important process and should be given serious consideration. The Course Selection Website has been prepared to guide and assist all students and their parents in the choice of courses for the 2024-2025 academic year. The advice of parents, teachers, and counselors should be utilized when choosing courses in order to ensure that students are properly placed to maximize the achievement of their abilities and talents and to prepare for their future.

It is important that you read through the Course Selection Guide and evaluate the courses you need to meet graduation requirements. Additionally, you are encourage to review the various options available to you that can enhance your High School experience and post-secondary opportunities.

  • Your Core Content Teachers (Math, History, English, �Science) will recommend/request the appropriate course on your behalf in Class Choice.

  • Course Selection Presentations (Advisory)

  • Students/Parents can review the Course Selection Website and plan course requests using the Course Selection Worksheet. (Available on Course Selection Website)
  • Students will make Elective Course Requests in Class Choice during Advisory.

  • Students may adjust courses up until the end of the school year. (School Counselor)

Requests for schedule changes must be made within 8 days of the start of each semester. After the first 8 days administrative approval is required.

Schedule changes WILL NOT be considered for the following reasons:

  • To accommodate teacher preference
  • Lateral move within the same subject area
  • Change to obtain a preferred lunch period

Keystone Exams

  • Keystone Exams are End of Course assessments in Algebra I, Literature and Biology.
  • Each exam is broken down into two modules.
  • Per PA Act 158, if a student is not proficient or advanced in all three Keystone Exams, they will have alternate pathways to meet Pennsylvania graduation requirements.

Keystone Proficiency Pathway

Proficient (1500) or Advanced on each Keystone Exam.

  • Algebra

Keystone Composite Pathway

Earning a satisfactory composite score (4452).

  • No Below Basic

  • At least 1 Proficient Score or Higher

Statewide Graduation Requirement

Attainment of an established score on an approved alternate assessment.

  • PSAT - 970
  • ACT - 21
  • ASVAB - 31
  • SAT-1010

Attainment of an established score on an AP test in an academic content area associated with eah Keystone Exam the student did not achieve a proficient score.

Successful completion of a concurrent enrollment course in an academic content area associated with each Keystone Exam the student did not achieve a proficient score.

Successful completion of a pre-apprenticeship program.

Acceptance in an accredited 4-year nonprofit institution of higher education.

Alternate Assessment Pathway

Passing grade for EAHS classes associated with each Keystone Exam which the student did NOT achieve proficiency and one (1) of the following…

Statewide Graduation Requirement

Including one (1) of the following…

  • Score of a 3 or higher on any AP Exam consistent with the student’s goals & career plan.
  • Satisfactory completion of a concurrent or dual enrollment course consistent with the student’s goals and career plan.
  • Earn an industry-recognized credential, consistent with the student’s goals and career plan (CTE program).
  • Acceptance in an accredited other-than-4-year nonprofit institution of higher education.

And two (2) additional pieces of evidence, including one or more of the options listed below…

  • Satisfactory completion of a service learning project.
  • Attainment of a score of proficient or advanced in a Keystone Exam.
  • A letter guaranteeing full-time employment of military enlistment.
  • A certificate of successful completion of an internship or cooperative education program.
  • Satisfactory compliance with the NCAA’s core courses for college-bound student athletes with a minimum GPA of 2.0

Evidence Based Pathway

Passing grade for EAHS classes associated with each Keystone Exam which the student did NOT achieve proficiency and three (3) pieces of evidence consistent with students career goals.

Attainment of an Industry-based competency certification related to the CTE Program of Study.

Demonstration of a high likelihood of success on an approved industry-based competency assessment.

Career & Technical Education Pathway

Passing grade for EAHS classes associated with each Keystone Exam which the student did NOT achieve proficiency and…

Readiness for continued meaningful engagement in the CTE program of study.

NCAA offers resources to help plan and prepare for athletic requirements and ways to ensure that you meet eligibility requirements.
