Remember, when we come to eat this bread,

Remember, when we come to drink this wine,

His brokenness, his life poured out in dread;

And yet he did express, for us, the sign

That points to God, and all that we can be;

Remember him who died so tragically.

2 of 3

The broken bread reminds us of the cost

In serving others to the bitter end;

The wine poured out reminds us that he lost

His life in love for those who had no friend.

‘Rebellious’ was the judgement that they gave,

And so they sent him to his awful grave.

3 of 3

And so we eat the bread of brokenness;

In doing so we’re called to be the same;

And as we drink the wine of wretchedness

We face the cost of life lived in his name;

The bread and wine are challenges to be

A source of love and strong integrity.
