Holly Manning– President

  • Led overall club operations while coordinating with all Directors and Committee Chairs.
  • Provided leadership, guidance, conflict resolution, and comprehensive support to members

and the board throughout the year.

  • Fulfilled Membership Director responsibilities from January–June during vacancy.
  • Served as the primary external contact for businesses, partners, organizations, and individuals seeking collaboration or information about CFPC.
  • Worked closely with Wilmington and New Hanover County Parks & Recreation, Pender County P&R, the City Council, the Mayor’s Office, and the New Hanover County School System to advocate for additional courts, improved maintenance, signage, and pickleball expansion.
  • Coordinated with Parks & Rec Advisory Board representatives Ron Woodruff (City) and Carol Hunter (County) on court development and community outreach.
  • Participated in the MLK Youth Summer Pickleball Camp, training youth players.
  • Assisted with major events including the CFPC 10th Anniversary Party, the 100th Anniversary GFL Celebration, the Spring and Fall tournaments, and the Paws4People Charity Tournament, Pender County Kiwanis Park Celebration.
  • Managed or supported club insurance, contracts, reservations, software systems, and internal documentation and communications.
  • Drafted and reviewed club-wide communications and coordinated board decisions, approvals, and leadership transitions.

Some nets were re-enforced at the center pole. I will replace nets as necessary.��I replaced the old equipment bags at all three locations.I will replace all ball bags.��I replaced one lock on the equipment box at Legion Stadium.��New ball holders were placed at Robert Strange Park, Legion Stadium. I will place them at Greenfield Lake in the new year. We are not allowed to place them at Ashley H.S.��Balls at all three locations are replenished on a regular basis.��I made ball stoppers with the old nets between the tennis courts at Legion and Robert Strange Park.��I’ll be working on a pilot project to see how it holds up at Robert Strange. Coming Soon!

  • Club is on solid financial ground with no dues increases in 2025 or 2026
  • Permanent Court Fund now has over $50k available (in CD)
  • Moved Club's bookkeeping to Quickbooks
  • Ensures data security with cloud storage
  • Gives board transparency to club financial records
  • Provides more robust reporting�
  • Set up Club with ability to accept Zelle payments

  • Two new fundraising sources set up to fund club activities

Lisa Cunningham – CFPC Secretary

  • Cape Fear Pickleball Club became part of the PPA Ambassador Program which entitles CFPC members to discounts for playing or spectating at PPA events. CFPC receives a small stipend when the code “CFPC” is used.

  • New club policy on giving away free memberships was established. If memberships are given at CFPC events no BOD approval is needed maximum of 12 free memberships per year for club events. Nonclub related free memberships need BOD approval.

STATISTICS:

Facebook Group Statistics between January 1, 2025, and December 3, 2025, are listed below:

  • 376,086 people have viewed our Facebook group page this year. (Compared to 219,749 views last year for an increase of about 71%)
  • A total of 145 Participants had to be manually approved to join our Facebook Group since January 1, 2024. The rest were authorized automatically using Facebooks AI tool based on criteria set by CFPC.
  • We have a total of 4621 Facebook Group Members (Compared to 3789 members this time last year, for an increase of about 22%).
  • We have had 325 visitors.  These are people who have posted comments in our FB Group but haven’t joined.
  • This year there has been a total of 846 posts, 2030 comments and 11,188 reactions to our FB Group page.  This doesn’t include posts that have been deleted.
  • 59% of our members are female. 
  • 41% of our members are male.

Newsletter and Member Spotlight-Emma Dill

  •  Compiled and wrote the Fall newsletter in October to keep members up-to-date on club activities, tournaments and more.

  • Wrote features on seven club members over the last year, including Tucker Smith, Carolyn Ryan and Feri Nejad, Steve Noland, Morgan Caccia, Vince Hernandez and Ann Vaughn.

Voting�

Voting is open to any current 2025/2026 Cape Fear Pickleball Club members who attend the Annual General Meeting. Voting will close at 7:30pm on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

Voting Process:

  • After the meeting is adjourned, members will move to the voting area.
  • Note - Candidate bios are located in the voting area for review.
  • Ballots are handed out, one (1) ballot per person.
  • Fill out your ballot, fold over, and submit your ballot in the ballot box
  • Once your ballot is turned in you will be checked off again as voting and can stay to play or head out!

Results will be announced when votes have been finished being tabulated that evening and will be posted on the club website.

Looking Ahead…

Early in 2026, the BOD for the Cape Fear Pickleball club will be meeting with several local community members who are involved in some way with pickleball.

The purpose of this focus group is to gather ideas to keep the CFPC, club member focused, vibrant, active and community oriented in this next chapter!
