Frank Lloyd Wright

Background Information
Frank Lloyd Wright was born in the United States on June 8th, 1867.
At age 12 (1879), he decided to become an architect
He graduated from Madison High School, and was enrolled at University of Wisconsin in Madison to study civil engineering.
In 1887, he dropped out of college to pursue his passion. The same year, he became an assistant to Louis Sullivan, another famous architect.
His first project was The Hillside Home School, and after that he built houses without Louis’s supervision. He was later fired, so he started his own office.
Architectural Styles He Was Famous For
Frank Lloyd Wright was known for organic architecture. He based it off of Louis Sullivan’s idea of “form follows function”, but he changed it to “form and function are one”, which is related to the unity in natural things. Materials that are used in organic architecture include wood and copper. Organic architecture is also known for blending in with the building’s natural surroundings, such as hills.

Why Frank Lloyd Wright Is Interesting To Me
Last year, I was able to help build my great grandmothers new house. I decided to look up famous architects and ideas for the house. I came upon Frank Lloyd Wright and his style of architecture, and was really interested.
I have been interested in architecture for a long time, and I came upon a model of Fallingwater. I was really interested while I built it, and read the booklet about the structure, and Frank Lloyd Wight..
