AP Seminar

AP Research

AP Research (H4131L)*: AP Research is an inquiry-driven class in which students explore a topic of their choice. Investigations are student driven and focused on a specific research field. Students will create a new understanding, consider counter arguments, justify methodology, analyze data, interpret results, form a conclusion, identify limitations, and identify other areas for further research. Students will maintain a portfolio of the entire inquiry process, and will document their reflections throughout the research process. In culmination, students will write a 4,000 - 5,000 word academic paper addressing their research question/project goal and participate in a public presentation in oral defense of their research. The paper (75%) and the oral defense (25%) are evaluated by College Board for credit.

AP Seminar (H4130L): provides solid preparation for college coursework in any discipline. We focus on research skills, like finding and judging the quality of sources and assembling arguments with evidence, presentation skills, like performance techniques and media design, and interpersonal skills, like collaboration, problem-solving, and common goal setting. Students who enroll in this course and choose to continue through AP Research may be eligible to receive the AP Capstone Diploma Designation.
