Safety

Fire, Electrical Danger, Gas Leak, etc. 

No Immediate threat exists, but need to  restrict student and staff activity

Weapon related violence and/or

Trigger: 

 Fire Alarm or 

 P.A. announcement for evacuation

Trigger: 

 P.A. announcement: “Hold in place”

 P.A. announcement: “LOCKDOWN”

Procedure: 

● Follow fire drill exits & procedures, going to designated spots, unless otherwise specified via P.A. announcement. 

● ONLY IF SPECIFIED, evacuate to St. John’s Church. 

● ALWAYS BRING CLASS ROSTER & REPORT ATTENDANCE. 

● If on duty or prep, help students and staff evacuate.

Procedure: 

● Allow any student in your vicinity to enter your room. 

● Lock classroom door. 

● Keep students in classroom and remain in school building. Take attendance. 

● Teachers may let students in from the 

outside hallway. 

● Continue daily classroom routine. 

● Do not use any noise-making devices or mobile devices. 

● Prepare to shelter in place for an extended period-of-time. CONTACT THE OFFICE FOR 

EMERGENCIES ONLY. DO NOT ALLOW 

BATHROOM USE. 

If on duty or prep, help students get to 

classrooms. Go to assigned stations.

Procedure: 

● Allow any student in your immediate vicinity to enter your room. 

● Lock the door. Shut off lights and any 

devices that give off light or make noise. 

Close blinds. 

● Keep students out of sight and remain quiet. Take attendance. Do not allow bathroom 

use. 

● Contact the office only to relay important information. 

● DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR FOR ANYONE. 

● Always consider escape, barricade, & 

defense options as more information 

becomes available. Use tactical mindset. 

● If class is outside, evacuate to St. John’s Church.

Assignment Info

Each week you will have 2 or 3 assignments (POGILs, case studies, video reflections, etc.)

Due dates for most assignments will be generous and flexible

You will be provided with class time in order to complete assignments and ask questions

There are three quiz grades per quarter: 1 big quiz, 1 series of mini quizzes, and 1 project

It is highly encouraged to complete bonus assignments and test corrections for quizzes

All quizzes in this class will contain challenging MCQs and FRQs for AP Exam preparation

How to Be Successful

Commit the necessary time to reviewing all of your resources in order to properly prepare for each quiz

Understand that much of what we learn in this class is invisible to us. Have respect for images, videos, gifs, drawings, etc. that will give you a visual representation of concepts

Listen and pay attention during lectures to the best of your ability. Try your best to be present for all class periods

Be prepared to come to school early and/or stay late for extra help

Stay organized and complete assignments on time to guard against getting overwhelmed
