What is the LCAP?

  • Learning Control and Accountability Plan
  • All public schools are required to write this plan
  • It details the state learning priorities & how schools will implement plans for addressing those priorities
  • Operationalizes Equity

  • It communicates the programs & program spending priorities
  • It shares budget information
  • It communicates spending and programming for:
    • English Learners
    • Special Education
    • FRL
    • Homeless & Foster Youth
    • Other state and federally funded programs

  • Familiarize yourself with the LCAP document & stakeholder engagement

  • Review the draft of the LCAP once it is drafted (May)

Draft/ Prepare recommendations to directors based on your experience/ knowledge & the information they share

MayReview the draft of LCAP Plan written for your school (translated copies will be provided)

Attend ELAC Meeting

Ask questions & Provide Feedback on the draft shared

June

Review Final Draft (shared with committees prior to board adoption)

Attend DELAC to confirm receipt

Attend board meeting to hear final LCAP approval with option to make public comment

When Meeting with Directors

  • What are the current programs offered at our school to support EL students?
  • How are students doing on reading, writing, math progress?
  • How is your own child doing? What questions does your experience raise?
  • How informed are you about things happening at school that impact your child like testing, exhibitions, internships, etc.
  • What supports/ staff are offered to students classified as English Learners?
  • Any questions you have are great questions to ask school directors when you meet with them to discuss the LCAP. Don’t be shy! They really want to make sure parents feel supported and that all stakeholders understand the goals of our school!
