  • Label all personal belongings
    • SFA is not responsible for lost or stolen items
  • Modest, athletic clothing because the majority of camp occurs outside
  • LARGE, reusable water bottle (this is required)
  • Drum major supplies: mace, baton, whistle, etc.
  • A light jacket because the classrooms can be cold at times
  • Hat, sunscreen and sunglasses (sunscreen is required)
  • Athletic tennis shoes, closed-toe shoes only
  • Appropriate swimsuit -There will be a pool night!
  • FULL size bed sheets, pillow with case, and blankets
  • Bathroom supplies
    • Toiletries, towels, hygiene products, etc.
  • Pencil with notebook paper for your classes
  • Umbrella, rain poncho, rain boots, etc. - Prepare for rain!
  • Optional snacks and beverages - your dorm will have a fridge
  • Extra money for snacks, SFA gear, etc.

  • During camp, you will stay in the Residence Hall, Lumberjack Lodge
  • Both male and female campers will stay here, but will be in separate wings
  • Lumberjack Lodge has suite-style bathrooms

Daily Drop-Off

Drum Major Camp 2026

Location

  • Commuter campers will check-in daily at the Commuter Lot 47 at address:

2614 N. University Dr., Nacogdoches, TX 75964

  • Lot 47 is just north of the William R. Johnson Coliseum; look for the SFA Lumberjack Marching Band trailer and purple, three-story rehearsal tower

Times

  • All commuter campers must check-in by 8:15 a.m. with a counselor

Evening Pickup

Drum Major Camp 2026

Location

  • This year, commuter campers must return for the evening block after dinner
  • Commuter campers are welcome to eat at the cafeteria, but must pay $15 for dinner each night.
  • Before dinner, commuters will be picked up at either the cafeteria or commuter lot depending on what camp they are attending.
  • After the evening block, commuters will be picked up at Lumberjack Lodge.
  • There are evening activities after the evening block that students are welcome to participate in.

  • Sunday, June 14: 9:15 p.m.
  • Monday, June 15 - Wednesday, June 17: 8:50 p.m. if not attending evening activities. 10 p.m if attending evening activities

Check-In: 1 – 3 p.m.

Drum Major Camp 2026

  1. Upon arrival, park in the area outlined in purple
  2. Follow the sidewalks and arrows to the check-in entrance
  3. To enter Lumberjack Lodge, campers must present either a Fast Pass or a Registration Ticket from the Band Office
    • Fast Passes are sent to the email provided on your student’s registration form once the registration is completed
      • We will begin sending out Fast Passes the first week of June.
    • If the camper’s registration is not complete, they must go to Cole Concert Hall lobby in the Wright Music Building to finalize your student’s registration
      • After your full payment and waivers are complete, you will be presented a Registration Ticket to show at check-in

Check-In: 1 – 3 p.m.

Drum Major Camp 2026

  • Both residential and commuter campers will check in at Lumberjack Lodge
    • Counselors will ensure that you go to the correct check-in area
  • At check-in, you will receive your dorm key (residents only) and access/meal card
    • Commuters will receive their nametag, T-shirt and handbook at check-in
  • There will be a medication table at check-in; please follow the steps below to drop off your student’s medication
    • Medication must be placed in a bag or container
    • You must include a notecard with your student’s name, medication instructions and daily dosage
    • Head counselors will provide the medication at the appropriate times for the camper to self-medicate
    • Students will be able to receive over-the-counter medication during camp at the counselors’ discretion
  • Once you check-in, if you are a residential camper, you will go to your dorm to receive your T-shirt, nametag and handbook
  • Please follow your camp handbook for the specific schedule throughout the duration of camp!

Staying Healthy

Drum Major Camp 2026

  • During camp, you will spend a lot of of time outside in the Texas heat
  • Start hydrating at least three days before camp begins; prioritize water (over sports drinks) and avoid sugary drinks as much as possible
  • All campers are required to follow these health rules:
    • All campers must eat at every meal
    • All campers must have a reusable water bottle with them at all times
    • All campers must have sunscreen; a hat and sunglasses are also strongly encouraged
    • All campers must have athletic tennis shoes; open-toed athletic shoes are prohibited
  • If you begin feeling unwell, please inform a counselor ASAP!
  • The most important part of camp is staying happy and healthy!

Check-Out

Thursday Check-out Procedure

  • Check-out will occur at the Lumberjack Lodge dormitory
  • Prior to check out, counselors will check the student’s room for any damages and/or left items
  • Commuters will check-out with a designated counselor; more information will be provided at camp
  • Students will be provided with a box lunch upon completion of check-out
