REMINDER: FLYER POSTING POLICY

SBA Posting Policy

(1) There may not be more than 25 signs posted in the law school at one time for the same event/purpose.

(2) All signs are to be no larger than 8.5″ X 11″.

(3) Each sign must be numbered, 1 through 25, reasonably clearly on the front of the sign.

(4) Each sign must contain contact information (e.g. an email address) for the person or organization posting it.

(5) Permitted Areas:

  • 4th floor through 8th floor elevator banks;
  • Locker room [not on individual lockers, unless you have permission];
  • One sign of similar type in each restroom [please refrain from posting on the exterior of lavatory doors, the interior is permitted].

(6) Prohibited Posting Areas:

  • Do not post on wall-papered or laminated surfaces;
  • 1st floor of law school building, including elevator banks but excluding unused bulletin boards [posting is allowed on bulletin boards except Career Services, SPIN, SELS, and International Programs bulletin boards or any other board designated for a specific office.];

REMINDER: FLYER POSTING POLICY

  • Students are not permitted to move, remove, or tear down flyers unless the date of the event has passed. Although you may dislike or disagree with the content, you are not permitted to take them down for this reason.
  • When requesting a room through LiveWhale, please allow up to 2 business days for a room to be assigned. Only the person designated by the org may make the request. I'm happy to step in when needed! Adhoc requests can be submitted at this link.
  • As the weather warms, you may want to hold events in the law space next to Klein hall. This space must be reserved in advance, and we must first receive permission from the University. The space is available Monday - Friday. To request this space, please email Dean Feldman (dfeldman@temple.edu) and copy me on the request. We need the date, time, duration, and an estimated number of guests.
  • There is currently no eating in classrooms. Keep this in mind when planning events with food. Leave ample time for the attendees to eat outside of the classroom. You may need to reserve the student lounge or Breezeway.
  • Be mindful of classes taking place after your event. Plan for your events to end by 1PM to accommodate for 1:10PM classes.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

11 of 18

BUDGET COMMITTEE

  • The Board of Governors had to consider the appropriate standard of review and deadlines for 106 requests which supplement an already-approved budget line from a 105 request:

  • We settled on a deadline based on the grand total of the request (the 105 amount + the additional 106 amount).
    • However, exceptions will be granted if circumstances beyond the Student Organization’s control prompted the need for more funding, and in other situations that were within the Student Organization's control if it is deemed appropriate.

  • As a reminder, this means that the total cost of the event (either for a normal 106, or a 105+106) determines the deadline:
    • $150 or less - due ONE WEEK before the event
    • $150.01 to $300 - due TWO WEEKS before the event
    • Greater than $300 - due ONE WEEK BEFORE THE SENATE MEETING BEFORE THE EVENT

  • Exceptions to these deadlines or expedited review is possible, but you must make a written email request to the SBA President. These are discretionary and will be approved or denied based on the circumstances.

BUDGET COMMITTEE

  • I’m working to compile records of things that have not been as well-documented, including:
    • Barrister’s Ball (event budget, sources of funding, rollover amount, COVID-19 adjustments)
    • General 105 & 106 forms, as well as SBA decisions on them
    • Large organization expenditures and sources of funding (e.g. WLC-hosted Mixer, SPIN Auction/Forum, LALSA Fiesta)

  • We have a number of amendments that we want to make to SBA policy
    • Considering funding travel costs (tentative)
    • Considering funding attendance at professional conferences or ticketed events
    • Codifying current exceptions for “personal items” and making them available to the student body
    • Codifying requirements for hosting off-campus events to reflect Temple policy
    • Updating and codifying “Due Diligence” and other requirements in a consolidated format in the code (and not spread out between the code, constitution, and historic interpretations)
    • Consolidating all permitted purchase types and rules for them into one section of the code
    • Codifying the above policy decision for SBA

  • We will likely not make all of them - but we will try to work on them as we can

SOCIAL COMMITTEE

  • The Social Committee has tentatively decided to stick with the vaccine mandate as it is what Temple requires
  • Previously stated testing requirements are still planned:
    • PCR tests within 5 days for vaccinated attendees
    • PCR tests within 3 days for unvaccinated attendees
    • Alternatively, students can provide proof of having covid in the past 90 days
  • Reminder that ticket sales end March 14 at 11:59PM

14 of 18

CONSTITUTION COMMITTEE

  • Currently considering changes to the Election process
  • Proposed changes will be emailed out for a Senate vote to them communicate them with the rest of the student body
  • Final amendment vote would occur in the March SBA Meeting
  • Election Timeline
