Homework

  • My purpose of not assigning formal homework is based on the most current research supporting the efficacy of homework. Based on several research reports and my own observations over 20 years of teaching homework does not support students in the way we believe it does.

  • I will be asking you to have your students read daily to continue their growth in this area. I will have special projects throughout the year to support content in our classroom.

  • I ask that you take the time that would have once been “homework time” and spend it together with your child exploring and learning together. Do science experiments, cook together, make art, learn to code, build and take apart things, visit museums, go outside and explore, learn a new skill together, most of all spend time together talking about it all.
