Eighth Grade Chorus - Fall Performance
On October 24, the TMS Eighth Grade Chorus and Jazz Band traveled to the Westmoreland Museum of Art and Golden Heights Personal Care Home.
At the museum, we participated in three stations, including their All the Right Notes music exhibit, an interactive listening lounge, and an Emotions in Music studio activity.
Then we shared our music with the residents of Golden Heights Personal Care Home as we brought our love of music to members of our community. Eighth grade chorus performance repertoire at Golden Heights included A Patriotic Salute, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, A Thousand Years, and Dream a Little Dream of Me.

Veterans Day 2024
The eighth grade chorus was invited to perform at the Trafford Veterans Day community service on November 11, 2024 at 10:45 a.m. at the Trafford American Legion. It was an honor to perform at such an important community event and the 28 eighth grade chorus members worked diligently to prepare music to share with them.
Sixth, seventh, and eighth grade members of the Trafford Middle School Chorus also made gifts for each of the veterans in attendance. Every year students learn how important it is to give back to our community, especially those who have served in our armed forces. We used our Cricut and Cricut supplies, funded by multiple Donors Choose grants and our annual chorus fundraiser, to create mugs, tumblers, shirts, and totes for our veterans. Two of our eighth grade chorus members, Ava Ashbaugh and Ariya Wilson, also used their pin maker to generously create patriotic pins for our veterans as well.
TMS Outdoor Dining - School Service Project
The TMS Chorus also purchased new picnic tables for our middle school with our funds from our annual fundraiser.
These tables provide a wonderful opportunity for outdoor dining during lunch, allowing everyone in the school to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.
We hope that this addition will enhance our students’ lunchtime experience and create a welcoming space to relax and socialize.
We look forward to expanding this project in the coming years!

Holiday Community Outreach Project
During the week following our holiday chorus concert, the TMS Chorus participated in our annual senior outreach project.
We created snowman crafts to distribute to local nursing homes, Trafford Manor, and the Trafford American Legion.
The TMS Chorus students learn the importance of community outreach and enjoy serving our community members who may need extra positive encouragement during the holiday season.
The chorus members work together to create a sense of community within our organization as they learn the importance of community outreach!

County Chorus Festivals
Students are selected through an audition process to participate in these festivals. Once selected, they prepared an entire extra concert of music to perform with other students from schools all over Westmoreland County. We gather at a host school to rehearse with the other students on the festival day and at the end of the festival, there is an evening concert for families and friends.
These students put a lot of extra effort, time, and dedication to participate in these festivals by learning and rehearsing an entire extra concert worth of music prior to their festival day. Thank you for your time and dedication and for representing your school, your district, and yourself so well.

Eighth Grade Elementary Recruitment & Thank You Trip
On Friday, March 21, 2025, the Eighth Grade Chorus performed for Sunrise and Level Green Elementary Schools and informed them about the opportunities they have in our chorus at Trafford Middle School. They had a great time visiting their elementary teachers, performing for the students, and talking about our TMS Chorus.
Then, as a thank you for their three years of dedication to the TMS Chorus, we traveled to 814 Lanes and Games, where they enjoyed bowling, arcade games, laser tag and a pizza party to thank them for their hard work and dedication to the TMS Chorus. It was also a great way to promote team building and strengthen friendships.
Best of luck in all of your future endeavors, Class of 2029!

Concert Layout
Our annual spring concert featured a 20 page script with Pittsburgh history, how our music related to the Steel City, and some Pittsburgh humor that only those of us who call Pittsburgh home can truly appreciate.
The 120 member TMS Chorus and 10 member stage crew put on the show of a lifetime, modeling the layout like a Steelers’ football game, dressing for the occasion in our black and gold, and featured 7 full chorus songs, 2 eighth grade songs, 2 eighth grade piano solos, 2 student accompanied piano selections, a violin accompanied song, an electric guitar and drumset accompanied song, 2 county chorus selections, 3 dances, and the dedication, effort, and love for music that anyone could ever ask for from students of any age!

Community Outreach - Crochet Corner
With our profit from the raffle baskets at our spring concert, we are expanding our community service projects to include crocheting! Many chorus members already crochet and have volunteered to teach their peers the beautiful art of crocheting. We are using our new materials to create projects for next fall’s Veterans Day gifts for our local veterans.
