Advanced Placement (AP) Courses

  • College level courses taught in high schools
  • Teachers teach to standards and assessments that are developed nationally
  • Chance to earn college credit through performance on exam in May
  • Students are expected to process information independently and develop higher level critical thinking skills
  • Freshman students can expect 30-45 minutes of homework on average every night for an AP class

REGISTRATION NIGHT

  • What you need to bring:
    • Original Birth Certificate (or Passport or Alien Registration Card)

    • 5:30-6:00 and 6:30-7:00
      • Copying of Birth Certificates in the cafeteria

    • 6:00-6:45 or 7:00-7:45 (CHOOSE 1 based on your availability)
      • Meet with counselor to receive your student’s placement in required classes and to select elective classes.

MAP Placement Test

  • If your student has not taken the MAP Placement Test, please contact the Student Services Office at Maine East immediately; these test scores are required to determine freshman course placements in core classes.
