2nd Grade NTI Choice Board Days 6-10
Dear Parents,
Due to school closing for weather or illness, we will have a virtual school day. I will be available for questions or comments. You can contact me through email or HCS app/Thrillshare from 8:00 – 2:00, or through Google Classroom. Our Google Meet will start at 9:30.
On the reverse side of this letter, you will find the 2nd grade choice board. Your child is required to complete and turn in one activity under each column (Reading, Math, Science, and Writing). After your child has completed the activity, please date the box so we know when the activity was completed. You will need to sign this paper so they can return it to school. If we miss a second consecutive day, your child will need to complete another activity from each category and so on. Please keep this letter and choice board. This will also be posted in Google Classroom and GCB’s school website,.
This choice board must be returned to the classroom teacher within 7 days after the NTI day. This is how we will take attendance for the day. Not all assignments will have an assignment to return. Ex. Reflex, iReady, Boddle

Read for 20 minutes and summarize what you read to someone at home. Remember: a summary is a short retelling of the important parts from the beginning, middle, and end. | Practice your addition and subtraction with regrouping. Complete the “Regroup to Find the Answers” worksheet. | Choose an insect to research. Tell at least 3 facts about the insect and draw and label the body parts (head, thorax, and abdomen). You can use Pebble Go in Clever to help you with your research. | Write a paragraph about your favorite kind of food or a favorite game. Be sure to include a topic sentence, reasons and examples and a conclusion. |
Read for 20 minutes, draw a picture of what you read and label as many of the story elements as you can: characters, setting, problem, and solution. | Practice telling time. Complete the “Make a Match” worksheet and match the clocks to the correct time it shows on the clock. | Test objects in water to see if they sink or float. Record your observations. Why do you think certain objects float while others do not? | Complete the “Contraction Sentences” worksheet. Underline the contraction in each sentence. Then write the words that each contraction stands for. |
Read out loud to your family or a stuffed animal for 20 minutes. Draw a picture of your favorite part of the story. | Login to iReady Math or Boddle and practice math skills. Play for at least 20 minutes. | We learned about butterflies in Amplify. Complete the “Butterflies” worksheet. | Design a comic strip with at least three sections that include illustrations and dialog with a beginning, middle, end. |
Read “The Lucky Cricket” story and answer the questions on the worksheet. | Practice counting money. Complete the “How Much Money Do I Have” worksheet. | Choose a famous person to research. Write down 3 facts about that person and how that person is well-known. You can use Pebble Go in Clever to help you with your research. | Write a story about what you think we would be doing or learning in school if we didn’t have an NTI day. |
Login to iReady Reading and practice reading skills. Play for at least 20 minutes. | Complete the addition and subtraction fact sheets. | Draw and illustrate the Water Cycle. Write a sentence for each phase explaining what happens during that phase. | Write about your favorite season. Tell what you like to do during that season. Be sure to start with a topic sentence, details and a conclusion sentence. Use the “My Favorite Season” paper to write your response. |
